On week 5 of couch to 5K. Love to be doing 5k in like 25 mins like most people I seem to speak too. Can’t see that ever happening right now, but I’m sure I’ll get there 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Most people can’t run 5k in 25 minutes. The average parkrun time is a little over 30 minutes but remember that’s the average for all parkrunners some of whom have been doing it for years, a lot of people are slower than that and anyway you’re a beginner. Only 10-20% of C25k graduates can do 6min/km at the point where they graduate.

Thanks Arthur JG. That make me full much better. I would be so chuffed if I could do it in 39mins. What does C25k mean?

I started couch to 5k in May 2018. I’ve now done 59 parkruns. I’ve beaten 30 minutes only once. But two years ago I couldn’t run a hundred yards.

That’s brilliant Arthur. I’ve come straight in at week 4. But struggled with this at first so know it’s my level. Done it 4 times thus we’l and just found easy today, so hopefully I’ll be doing 5k in 30 mins like you in the next month or 2 👍

No remember I said I’ve done it ONCE. I normally take longer but that’s OK.

Take it easy, missing out those early weeks will increase your risk of injury.

The aim of the programme is to safely get you to being able to run for 30 minutes, and that takes steady preparation.

Good luck.

I’ve done several 5Ks now and my best time is just under 34 minutes although it has dropped from 38 minutes a few weeks ago. Just concentrate on running for 30 minutes and don’t stress about the time. You’re doing great 👍
