Week Five. Run One.

On day one of the C25K plan, I was filled with trepidation, anticipation and determination. Over the weeks that have passed, trepidation was replaced with celebration. Each run has been a huge milestone for me.

Now that I've reached week five, I'm really looking forward to seeing if the work that I've put in pays a dividend. I think it will. I've come to believe in the plan.

Today's run was very similar to that of Fridays, with three five minute runs. As always, music accompanied me. The first song to play was, Up Around The Bend by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The opening lyrics were quite appropriate:

"There's a place up ahead and I'm goin'

"Just as fast as my feet can fly"

Today was tough, but I stuck to the task. I was tired at the end, but after the warm down, I felt as though I could go again. That's a good sign.

I know the week is going to be tougher, and I'm looking forward to it. If I have to repeat, it just means my body isn't quite ready. Roll on Wednesday ☺

I wish I could carry my SLR with me on my runs. But, its way too heavy. Lol

I was annoyed with my phone this morning. Some runs, everything feels heavy 😉

It's usually my legs lol

Lovely photo LittleIreland. I love that your trepidation has been transformed into celebrations, what a wonderful programme and forum we have all found. ‘Looking forward to tough’ what a great way to approach your runs and something I might borrow 😊

Thanks 😁

Complaining is self defeating. I know the plan is hard for non runners like myself, but switching around words etc helps to reinforce a positive attitude and will contribute to me crossing the finish line.

As a kid, I used to always come last in races. This isn't a race. It's a personal quest and I'll finish on my terms. Besides, running alone means I'll win after all these years 😂

Indeed, you’re already a winner 😁

Well done, and a lovely spot for running. Our local field track is a quagmire so haven’t been there for a month. Your photo makes me long for drier weather. As the runs get longer, remember to start slowly and build up later in the run. That will help build stamina. Then you can keep the walk brisk, instead of needing to slow down too much to catch your breath. You’re doing splendidly. 👏🏼

Going off too quickly is a problem and something I need to work on. I guess it's probably a common thing among new runners. A metronome would probably help, but the darn thing would either do my head in, or hypnotise me 😂

I didn’t get on with the metronome either. 🤔 But I do use a beats-per-minute podcast called Podrunner sometimes to steady the pace. It’s music- of a sort - but with a strong beat. 😊

Glad you're enjoying yourself.

Credence Clearwater Revival feature quite heavily on my playlists. I find their stuff so easy to fall into step with. 👍
