Only ran for 20 mins this morning (3k) because I was short on time but also have pulled something at the top of my thigh whilst doing my 1st parkrun on Saturday. Need to stretch it out more and hopefully it won’t hold me back. Any tips for to help injured thigh?

First, congrats on your first parkrun! I'd be reluctant to give you specific advice because I don't know what your injury is. But you could try a bath with some Epsom salts in, and some people like to use a foam roller to get the knots out. Painful, though. Have a look at the exercises and stretches for runners on health unlocked (sorry don't know how to do a clicky link on my phone). But don't do anything that hurts! Maybe just rest up until it feels better.

Thanks GOG, I’ve been to see the chiropractor today and he pulled me about and has helped the muscles relax. He also gave me some gentle stretches to do but reiterated to warm up properly at the start of my runs and stretch at the end. I didn’t warm up enough for the parkrun and I’m sure that was a mistake. My advice to anyone parkrunning, especially for the first time is to make sure you warm up fully, it’s so important.

I agree Mands, I started c25k with a running group so I learnt to do the warm ups with them. With my creaky old limbs,I really feel it if I miss them. In my case, especially the stretches at the end. Glad you found a good chiropractor to sort you out 😊

Lesson learnt - I definitely won’t be skipping warm up & stretching in future, I realise I’m getting too old for my body to just bounce back if I get injured 🙁
