Hi, I'm a member of a few of these forums and have been for many years so I'm quite an oldbie. But I've always been curious how admins get to be admins as there are very many different admin styles - even within the same community over time eg I've noticed a big change in one of my communities where I've not posted for a while.
In short, who are the admins accountable to?
I've also wondered how new communities start up as there's a noticeable absence of some but it's not at all clear how they begin and why some and not others.
Thanks

All of the admins on this forum are volunteers and have all completed C25k and contributed regularly to the forum before being invited by the existing community admins to join the team.
We work under the supervision of the HealthUnlocked admins, who are professionals and we have to abide by their guidelines.
While it is recommended by HU that admins have good communication skills and enthusiasm for their area, there is no defined style, since that naturally comes from the diverse bunch of individuals that make up the team.
Anybody can start a new HU community simply by presenting their proposal to HU.
That's very illuminating. Regarding starting a new community I've not seen where/how to do that. But I guess I just need to search around 'about this community', FAQs, Contact Us etc. Maybe all that info is on the home page
Hi, so there is! I never noticed that 'Start A Community' before. Probably because my focus is always to the top of the page or replies but never get down that far!
Tasha99 Hyperhidrosis. But as I have other conditions, I wouldn't really have the energy as I'm sure there'd be a lot of work involved. But maybe could suggest it to one of the Facebook Groups
