Experienced runners out there, just doing consolidation runs and wake up next day , aching like hell. I am 60 so expect a bit of that but does that lessen off as you get fitter/better runner or is it just something to expect ?

Does the ache go away?
Hello Snodrop, I think the more you run the less achy you should feel. Saying that are you running too fast and are you stretching after EVERY run.
😊
Do you stretch after every run as recommended in the guide to the plan?
Do you keep moving on your rest days?........sitting still is fatal.
Do you do any other strength or flexibility training alongside your running?
All of the above can help.
Thanks IT, I do the warming up walks and cool down walk but tbh no stretching, so I shall start that, I do dog walk on the rest days and will get motivated on the strength training, thanks a lot!
Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow.
