Hi runny peeps,
I'm not running as much as I'd like because - well, life!
But I'm on to week 2 now, and I've finally got proof of the the existence of "my" red kites. Only one, so you'll have to take my word on the other three. Not sure where they all are, maybe it was too cold and miserable. I can empathise with that!
The blue sky was nowhere to be seen, in fact it was looking very ominous, although the rain didn't appear. (It has toda (Thery though, and I'm not sure I'm brave enough to run in what's falling from the sky today...
...so I've added a promise of spring, from the snowdrops and one brave hellebore brightening up my front garden.
Oh yes, the runs! Well, I'm on to week 2 although I considered repeating a week 1 run, I decided that I should push on. So run 1 was very slow - Japanese slow jogging technique was needed to get to the end of the session. If I speeded up, I could feel a little twinge in my right knee which prompted me to slow back down, and then the twinge disappeared instantly. I was up and down that same lane, hearing more birds than I could see, although there were 4 magpies in the field where the red kites had been. They flew away every time I got close, just to perch in the hedgerow, then drop back onto the ground when i'd gone past.
Run 2 - same place, similar weather. Hedgerows were full of starlings, sparrows, and other small unidentifiable birds that were flitting about. There must have been dozens, but I hardly caught a glimpse.
This run was better - my legs felt a little stronger and so did my breathing. I've been keeping up with my strengthening exercises, I started off nice and slow, and this time I felt able to just a little faster, and especially for the last run session. That felt good!
That was on Sunday and I haven't got out since for a very lovely reason.
My first grandchild was born in January and I've been on babysitting duty this week. I am totally besotted and completely kn-- very tired. Going for a long walk with a friend tomorrow so run 3 might have to wait until Saturday, if I don't drag my weary bones out into the rain today.
