After a week I found the hardest mentally to overcome, last night I enjoyed immensely, the most I have sweated as well. In my head I broke the run up into sections, the first 10 minutes were the hardest mentally the last 5 physically, but I increased my speed a bit for the last minute. So happy at the end, knackered though. So my question, after the run I got the munchies, I was so hungry, remembering I am Diabetic what would be good to eat before the runs to help fight of the hunger and a possible energy boost? I want to avoid refined sugar obviously but a few carbs would be ok, what should I be looking for?

I think you may have misread my post, i was not looking at extra snacks, just what i should eat leading up to a run, and telling someone who is a Diabetic to just drink water is dangerous,
as an unfit T1 or T2 or any other of the 5 types of diabetic, when you do any extra movement, whether that be manual work or exercise our bodies will burn up the carbs in our system, and as we are unable to use/produce insulin or deal with major fluctuations in our blood sugar, we need to keep our systems 'balanced' and possibly replace the sugars our bodies burn through any workout we are not used to. I would seriously consider removing that post as it could be misinterpreted by someone who is recently diagnosed and looking at changing their lives.
For me, being super hungry is one of my signs that i am low on blood sugar and need, not want, but need to eat.
If you have low GI carbs they are slow release and will help you to maintain blood sugar levels. Any form of oatmeal is fab - porridge for breakfast or maybe an oat-based snack bar an hour before? But be careful with snack bars as some of them are loaded with sugar.
