I set out yesterday to tackle the 20 minute run. I decided to do it first thing in the morning so I would miss old Storm Dennis. I’m staying in the wilds of Northumberland and was really looking forward to a change of scenery (from Doncaster) and some real fresh air.
I have never known so many cars! It beats Donny in the Friday rush hour. Still I plodded on and felt chuffed to reach the 10 minute mark. I smugly decided to push on a bit more so I would get a longer walk home. Still feeling reasonably fresh, I turned round...and was faced by a herd of cows and the most enormous hill I’ve ever seen! I mean how did I miss the fact that I’d been running down a hill?
The end to this story is that I did complete the last 7 minutes running (slowly) uphill. I left my lungs somewhere at minute 17 on the roads and I don’t remember the walk home at all, so the beautiful scenery was totally lost on me. The cows were very encouraging though...🤣
