Well having completed wk3 run3 on Thursday in cheap trainers without any issues at all, I was still tempted to buy a pair of " proper " running shoes for the step up to wk4...So treated myself to these.
although not the magic carpet the price suggested, I completed run 1 this morning and must say they felt very good, didn't feel too bad myself either.
Thanks to everyone for their contributions to this forum, they really help.

These are lovely new running shoes for the remaining weeks for you on C25K, they will feel much more comfortable than the old trainers, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS to week 4😊🏃🏾
My running shoes were the most expensive shoes that I have ever bought, so I certainly don't want to ruin them by running through mud and large puddles, if I did want to run in muddy conditions I will buy a pair of trail shoes which look like boots made especially for running in mud.
I recently got new shoes, yes they’re great..... however I had visions of floating along like an Olympian, feet barely touching the ground..... yep, didn’t happen 😉🙃
I invested in a pair of high end New Balance runners and gel inserts. They make a huge difference and help prevent injury. My son gave me a pair of Vorex performance socks from Athletes Foot just recently and these made a big difference as well.
It's worth spending the money if you are serious about running.
