Week 1. Run 2. Minus 7C Brrr!

I've been looking forward to this second run. The weather was much better today than previous. Its been sunny day so far. The Met Office said that the wind is 30mph, and the temperature feels like -7C.

The temperature was a bit of a killer today, causing my lungs to feel like they were burning. Ouch!

Today, I set off listening to Glenn Hughes (ex Black Sabbath). The first track up was Steady.

I was intrigued during the run if I'd resolved the issue with my app crashing. I had. Thank goodness. Now, I can follow proper instruction instead of guessing my minutes.

Towards the end of the run, I did feel my calf muscles tightening and I did slow somewhat compared to my starting speed. But I persevered. My heart rate spiked at 163bpm.

Now, I feel like eating pie and chips, but I'll behave myself. A piece of fish is on the menu for me ☺

Nicely done! And this very cold weather is hard on the lungs. I wear a "Buff" over my mouth and nose when it is really cold; it helps warm the air before it hits your lungs! Enjoy the next run!

Thanks for the tip Sadie - I'll have a look on Amazon to see what I can find.

They are also fab in summer! On a really hot day, I soak mine in cold water and wear it on my head. 😅

That could be useful, as I'm a bit of a slap head 😂

Buffs were made for slap heads. Useful for avoiding sunburn. 👍

I'm glad you got the app sorted, it makes it so much easier when you know what you're doing. 🤣

Well done on going out in the cold and listening to your body.

Even more kudos for knowing when to listen and when to turn a deaf ear :D
