One month smoke free and can breathe deeper, last night went with my daughter up a steep part of the downs and it was cold so we belted up there almost running and no wheezing from me
Nothing about running but...: One month smoke... - Couch to 5K
Nothing about running but...
Great that you're feeling the benefits already! Well done!
Good news! And well done, as an ex smoker I know how hard it is ๐๐
Congratulations to you Willow for having not smoked now for a month, well done, as I have never smoked but do understand that for smokers to give up is hard but I'm sure you won't go back to the weed, ยฃ10 a packet for cigarettes is expensive, you could save that money and buy a good pair of running shoes.
One month already , brilliant. Hope you both are feeling so much better๐
That's fantastic! Well done. I am on 6weeks (or if you don't count the new years blip 10 weeks! Lol!) and it is still hard, but I am doing it and breathing much better for it! There is no way I would have been able to do the bridge to 10k without giving up the evil weed. Well done and give yourself a big pat on the back! X
I am so pleased to hear this! Really well done.
Not being a smoker, I dont know which is harder to give up, smoking or alcohol.
I tried dry January and failed on day 9!
But, I've still reduced my consumption massively in the last 3 months.
Keep it up. Better lungs and more money for running shoes ๐
Mig
You know it makes sense..... and it will certainly help your running. Well done you. ๐๐
Smoking, the biggest regret of my life. Smoke free 9 years well done, surprised anyone can afford it now. Keep it up, it is the single most important thing you can do to increase your quality of life, the second? Your here aren't you!
Thatโs brilliant, fab that you can feel a difference already! ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
4 Months for me and now just a bad memory. Here's a tip, put the money you would have spent on Smoking into a separate account and watch how fast it grows then treat yourself to something really nice to celebrate your new life Well done!
๐๐๐ This is a great post!! Well done you for giving up smoking!! That's great and a HUGE achievement!!
Every day your body & lungs will be healing itself from the effects! ๐
That is fantastic. Great to read of the benefits.
Good for you. It's lovely to hear someone taking control and making positive decisions. ๐
Brilliant stuff WillowandSola, good for you. I gave up smoking 8 years ago when my brand of ciggies were $16.30, (NZ) last time I priced them last year they were $39.90. Each year our Government has added 10% tax on tobacco, to encourage people to stop so it worked for me! ๐ Happy smokefree running to you ๐
wow thatโs an incentive, smokefree running is interesting and very quiet no wheezing, it was belting up the steep hill made me realise what a difference a month has made i usually plod up there with burning legs and wheezy puffs last night it was amazing
When I first came to NZ around 2012 they were about $25.00 (12.50 GBP) for a pack which mortified me, I didn't have to pay that too often as I was commuting in and out of the country but it was a big factor in me eventually stopping.
I first gave up when they were $2.30 a packet, saved what I would have spent on them like you and treated myself to a trip to Adelaide when Formula 1 was held there rather than Melbourne, (supported Nigel Mansell) I could afford to follow the F1 circuit round the world on savings now! ๐
Not any more as Iโve now retired, but last year we travelled back to the UK for 8 weeks to see family (Iโm a 10 pound Pom) and smoking savings were well spent ( running shoes, running tops, running socks etc) It was wonderful as I got to meet some VBRโs from here at 3 parkruns. Its amazing how quickly your savings will grow. Enjoy ๐
