Things I have learnt about running

If you go running at night:

You set off security lights

You see the same tesco delivery driver time and time again

You see beautiful stars

You start off freezing and end up boiling

You make dogs bark

You don't always see dog poo on the pavement

You feel dreadful going out but feel amazing coming back

You confuse dog walkers and teenagers at bus stops by running erratic loops to avoid ending up far from home and more importantly avoiding hills

You make people jump when Jo wileys voice shouts out behind them because you still haven't found any working headphones

I could not resist.. this is your poem... for you...

Night Run

If you go running at night....

You set off a security light...

You see the same driver

as he drives his van by...

You see beautiful stars

in a velvet black sky...

You start off and you're freezing

You boil when you stop...

A dog barks as you're passing.

Your feet unseen as they drop...

The outward is hard, the return, a delight

Dog walkers, teenagers, not sure, if you're right

in the head as you run a weird mystic dance

avoiding those hills in an odd loopy prance.

You loom out of the darkness and give them a fright.

Who'd have thought of the wonders of a run in the night... ?

Ha ha. That made me laugh! I still do erratic loops to avoid hills 8 months on. My NY resolution is β€˜must do those hills’....

πŸ˜‚ My town is rediculously hilly so there are a lot of runners vying for space on the one flat road that stretches for about half a mile! Good luck with your hills 😊

That made me chuckle. I didn't have headphones for C25K, so can confirm that Michael Johnson's voice makes people jump too!!
