Running through grief

Feeling low at the minute as my grandmother passed away on Saturday morning. Really struggling with grief even though she had suffered with Alzheimer’s and had been bedridden for years. It’s difficult to grieve when you don’t have a funeral to go to as she was abroad.

Still managed to run a 5k Sunday morning and plan another 5k tomorrow.

Running is such an amazing thing no matter what you’re going through at that time when you’re running you feel totally in control. You don’t have any stress and anxiety you’re just out there with your own thoughts.

Happy running guys xxx

So sorry to hear about your grandmother and how sad you are feeling. If running can help then that is fantastic. I hope you are able to remember happier times with her. Take care of yourself too.

Condolences, I was very close to all of my Grandparents and even though it’s been a long time since they all passed away I still miss them but in a good way with many happy memories. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Take comfort in your runs thinking the good times with your grandmother. Grief is not something you can switch on and off to suit. Happy running

I am really sorry to hear about your grandmother, so hard losing our dear ones. I’m glad it sounds like running is helping.

I was abroad and unreachable when my beloved grandfather died, and so missed the funeral as you have. I found it really hard to let go without that ceremony, without paying tribute and showing the world he was loved. After some years although I wasn’t a runner, I did the Race for Life in his name, with his name on my back, and raised money for Cancer Research. I really found it helped to feel I had done it for him. The reason I’m telling you is in case you need something to help you as you are missing the funeral of your beloved grandmother. Sending my sympathy to you ❤️

Thank you for kind message. I’m sorry for your loss too and what a great way to pay tribute. I’ve been planning a race for life too but I’ll see if I can do one for Alzheimer’s research 🙂 . I’ve searching of ways to pay tribute to her and that’s sounds perfect 🙂 thank you ❤️

So sorry to hear your news.

It must be do difficult. I can only imagine what it's like to be so far away.

It least you can find some headspace in your running.

Best wishes heading your way
