Non-Running victories !

So, as a lot of you know I began my C25K journey in May this year - where running literally 30 seconds nearly broke me. Now, I’m working towards running 50 miles in November; with a 5k race next Wednesday night and a 10K and HM next year. I feel sad when I don’t run (like this week, because I’ve been really sick).

But I wanted to share some non-running victories with you all.

1. My Fitbit “cardio fitness” has gone from the BOTTOM OF THE POOR SECTION (about 31) to “average - good”. Now, I know the Fitbit isn’t by any means totally reliable but it’s great for progress monitoring because I’m still comparing apples to apples. Also - had a Nuffield health MOT and DRs check up and both said my fitness and HR was really great for someone my weight with severe asthma.

2. My asthma has improved - I’m not glued to my blue inhaler all day every day!

3. Since coming off C25K I’ve lost almost 11lbs through just adding 3 runs a week to my routine. I’m hoping I can lose another 14 slowly and steadily. But - the 11lb loss NEARLY makes my BMI healthy so that’s really exciting!

So if you’re all wondering if you should carry on - the answer is yes. Even if you don’t like running, the exercise has honestly changed my life.

Well done! Can I ask how many times a week you run in total?

Thanks!

Usually 3x now, one long (7k +), one 5k and a 3-4K interval run 😊 sometimes I do 4 when the rest day falls properly, and sometimes I do 2 when I’m particularly busy.

I have also in the last 2 weeks taken up swimming on my rest day which I LOVE.

I hate not running too... they should have warned us 😂

You’re doing amazingly still... hope the 50 mile thing isn’t too far behind because of the sickness. You’ll soon chuck those other 14 pounds. Happy running
