Almost There

As I am nearing my 70th birthday I decided I should do someting a bit more serious about my health and fitness.

I used to swim a lot but haven't got in the pool for more thana decade.

My younger son also needed to get some weight off and get fitter so I draggged him in to the fire.

It's all gone surprisingly well.

Those first few weeks were difficult but once we started getting a bit fitter it went reasonably well.

Sometimes the heat and humidity here (Sydney) can be an issue - and the bushfire smoke!! But it's just a matter of pushing through.

Up to 25 miniutes now and looking forward to improving speed as my body gets used to things. It's not the breathing so much for me but an older body that feels the stress of pounding along the pavement.

But great sense of achievement every time I finish that run!!

Good for you. Find some off-road softer trail for your feet 🙂. No need to pound. Just gentle slow plodding is fine As you get fitter and stronger you’ll find you’re picking your feet up. Til then don’t worry

Have fun 🙂👍

Respect to you. It's useful to leave two days between runs; I think it takes longer for the body to adapt as we get older.

Yes, that's true.

After some runs I feel just fine and after others it certainly takes that extra day to recover.

This is interesting. I think a two rest day approach is good. I had a lot of 2 day breaks during the programme. Towards the end in week 7,8 and 9 I was running every other day and had a few aches and pains. We need to push ourselves and be gentle with ourselves at the same time it seems 🤔
