Feeling fantastic but should I run for the hills?

So I’ve just finished week 4 run 1 and am so happy. I really thought I couldn’t get past the 3minute run which seemed like such a struggle last week but it really is true that the program pushes you just enough to feel stretched and prepares you for the next stage.

Just one question though - I do all my jogging (can’t quite call it running yet!) in a beautiful but flat park. I am aware this is making the training easier than if I was mixing it up with something more challenging. Should I be venturing into hillier territory?

Hills will make you stronger.

If you can run up hills, you can run up hills.............

Only you can decide if you want to increase the challenge.

I ran to the hills lots on the plan... I got to the bottom of them... I turned round and ran away from the hills... the hills were all around me for the whole 27 runs... I ran to them, from them and even round them... nothing on earth would have made me actually run up one!

If you’re finding the runs easy, sure, make it a little more challenging and go for a hillier one, if not don’t worry about it, the hills have been there a while and I hear they won’t be gone by spring!

I have no choice where I live! I think start with a small incline and go from there.

Assuming you will keep running after c25k you could keep the challenge of hill till then. Try one if it's ok great, if not something to work towards. I chose to do all c25k on the flat and only really tackled hills on my 10k journey when legs were stronger. Happy running

Well, if you want to try a hill, go for it!

But there is absolutely no requirement for it.

I say go for it. Tackle it very slowly and if you find it's too much, then go back to the flat and keep that challenge in your back packet for another day!

Hills may be tougher but they did make me a stronger runner. Good luck 😊

I live in a hilly area and hated them to start but I never avoided them... now I love them and head for the hills whenever I can 👍🏻😁

Its obligatory to sing I'm the Queen of Castle at the top though! 🤣

Thanks everyone- I wouldn’t say I’m finding this easy at all so might wait for the burning desire to tackle a hill to hit me 😊
