Hi :) I can’t give you any advice, but just wanted to say I’ve just completed W3R2 too and have the same problem! I’ve just posted a query about gait analysis and shoes. What shoes are you running in? I’d suspect that maybe better shoes would be a help for you. Interested to hear what others say. I hope you get some answers :)

I just looked at your post. Brooks do an on line tests, re; gait to help you choose which trainer is best for you

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, strengthening exercises and a link to a post about buying running shoes, all of which may help.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi Violets

I was getting knee and shin pain until I bought a new pair of running shoes. My old trainers had been around for about 20 years so it was time for a change! If you go to a shop where they look at gii oh w your feet are landing when you run they’ll be able to recommend the correct running shoes for you. My new running shoes were expensive but I love them and no more pain 👍

Thank you so much, I have had gait analysis. Brought new trainers, feel so much more comfortable. I am wk6 r1 down now :-)

Hi FleetwoodShuttle, glad about the running shoes, but just curious about your username. Have you read The Familiers by Stacey Halls?

Hi Speedy

Yes, I’m reading it now. Really enjoying it, about halfway through. Have you read it?

Yup I'm reading it too. Not sure it's one of my favourites, but I'm quite enjoying it.

If we started a healthunlocked book club, I'd be posting even more than I do now. 😂

No, whilst it’s diverting and I will finish it (it’s a book club choice) it’s definitely not one of my favourites either.

But having just finished reading A Little Life it was always going to be a tough act to follow!

Have you read it?

Due to a change in circumstances I have loads more time to read now (my only hobby!) and I love discussing books 📚 ❤️

No I haven't, just googled it though, looks interesting. I'm reading Melmoth by Sarah Perry next for book club. It looks like a good 'un.

Reading can't be your only hobby - you're on a running forum. 🤔😂

Oohh I loved the Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry. Bet Melmoth is good too.

😂not sure if I class running as a hobby at the moment....can’t say I really enjoy it until I’ve done it and a wave of smugness and euphoria descends 😇

I really need another hobby! Though we’re thinking of getting a dog so I guess that would take up ALOT of my time.

Yay! It makes such a difference.

Hi, I started to get some soreness too about the same time, make sure you warm up and stretch before and after religiously. I took a week off and bought some knee supports. Also try some strength and flex exercises (there’s a group/forum on here with that) on your non running days and don’t be afraid to take an extra rest day in between runs if needed. I’ve started trying to build some overall strength in my legs with some gentle strength training, and I’m on week6run3 now. Hope that’s helps :)
