Hi everyone,, I finished week 3 yesterday morning. As expected each week following each run I’ve been a bit achy but stretching following the run a bit of ibuprofen rub that evening before bed and I’m fine the next day. First week it was my calves, second week thighs. This week has been my ankles and insides of my knees. But following my run yesterday morning as the day passed I became aware of a pain in the bottom of my foot on the inside of the heel, mainly my left but a little in my right too, this hasn’t gone away overnight. I did ice them last night and put my normal rib on. It’s not agony just know it’s there. I’m really enjoying this and STICKING to it, don’t want to end up with something that holds me up or derails me. Any tips/ideas??

A few things. At some point you should go to a proper running shop & have your gait analysed and shoes that support your running style. I run following this technique - m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2... It’s low impact and designed to prevent pain & injury. It takes a few watches to get it all, but there’s points on foot placement and landing that should ease your pain. I hope it helps.
Thank you,, I planned on going somewhere for gait analysis and treating myself to better trainers,, Felt a bit silly at the moment though as I’m walking more than I’m running lol. Me and husband have a day off work tomorrow, may try and go somewhere
If you’re loving the running it’s not silly! Looking after your body while getting fit is key! One of my weekly runs is now 50 minutes - wouldn’t be possible without the nico nico (smile!) running style!
Watch out. If you end up with plantar fasciitis you could be off running for months. The calf etc is not unusual for beginning runners but if you're feeling pain in your heel or the sole of your foot I’d think twice about running until I’d got the right footwear. You need to tell them about that pain as it may mean you need shoes with lots of extra cushioning, and gait analysis by itself won’t pick that up. Seriously I would get to the running shop sooner rather than later. Aches are normal but actual pain means don’t run.
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
