I’ve been talking about doing this for the last 3 weeks and have so far managed to find plenty of excuses not to. Tomorrow is D day though! Wish me luck!
Finally going to make a start!: I’ve been... - Couch to 5K
Finally going to make a start!
Good luck and don’t forget to post about your first run
Good luck! I was like this too but two weeks in and I now look forward to it (unthinkable before W1R1)
Go for it! Well done for making a start.
Take it slow and easy and let us know how it goes
Do it! Do it! Do it! 👍🏻😁
But do read the guide too! 😉
This is the hardest part...getting those trainers on and starting it. Once you do it becomes much easier and you never know you may just enjoy it 🙂
Good luck - once you’ve got your kit and step outside you’ll be fine. That’s the hardest part 😊
Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Enjoy your journey.
Go on and get out there! Keep it slow and steady, stay hydrated, stretch afterwards and use the advice and support on the forum to help you along. There is no better place for you to get inspiration! Well done of doing the most difficult part - deciding to go at all! The rest is just putting one foot in front of the other. 👍
I put off doing this program for YEARS!!!! I told myself that I would do it when I was fitter. I finally started 5 weeks ago - which is 4 years after I first considered doing it!!- and ironically I am heavier and less fit than I have ever been. I am now completing week 5 and wish I started this program earlier.
You can do this. Enjoy your run and the post run glow. Let us know how you get on!
Welcome to this brilliant forum! Good luck ! And most of all enjoy!🏃♀️👏🤗
Good luck! Well done for starting. Hope you enjoy the program 😊
Good luck Splasher99. Getting yourself out there the first time is a huge step, it gets much easier after that. When I started C25K I simply expected that in 9 weeks I would be running 5k, Once I'd had my first attempt at W1 R1 I realised it was going to take me a little longer! Then I found this wonderful community and received loads of helpful advice and support. The next thing I learned was that even when I get to the end of this I may not be running for 5k, but will be running non stop for 30 minutes. Based on this new knowledge I adjusted my ambitions. I'm doing this at my own pace. I will not move on a week until I've completed three consecutive runs (including the all important rest days). If I struggle to complete a run (usually because I'm trying to go too fast) I consider it as a practice, do as much as I can and then hopefully learn what I need to change so I can complete it next time. I've also decided that if I really struggle, I'll drop back a week to further build my stamina and more importantly, rebuild my self confidence (I am sure that for me most of the challenge is mental, not physical). You may find that you can rattle straight through this in 9 weeks, many people can (especially if you take it slow and steady). I'm just saying that it's not a problem if you can't, C25K may involve running, but it's not a race, reaching the end successfully is what matters, nit how quickly you can get there. I will be logging on here again later to see how you got on, as today is now yesterday's tomorrow! So make sure to post after your run, everyone is interested.
