Hi i havent ran for 6 months and want to get back to it. Any suggestions on where to start? Do you need to start at the very beginning again?

How far did you get the last time?

Six months is quite a long break. You could start again and try one run from each week until you reach your natural level. Listen to your body, only you know how you feel.

Good luck.

I guess it’s where you got to and how you feel.

I didn’t run for 4 months and started from the beginning. I’m enjoying it. It’s nice to have some confidence and I want to ease my old knee back to it!

Good luck 🙂

Hi I would say start again.

I am starting again in about a weeks time I have had a niggly knee for a while and have been marshalling at Parkrun to rest it. I have been power walking for a couple of weeks and feel like I’m ready to run.

I’m itching to run but have held off to rest my knee.

Good luck with whatever you decide

The beginning sounds like a good place to start!

Thing is, if you try further on and struggle, it's going to be de-motivational.

If wk1 R1 is too easy, you'll get a little boost before trying week 2!

I started C26K last September and had a few problems along the way, never getting past W4 R1. I eventually stopped at the beginning of December and had a re-think. I started back last Saturday (so had about 6 weeks off) and initially was planning to start back at Week 3 but then decided that it's not that far into the programme, I'm in no rush to finish (but am determined to finish), I re-started from the beginning and am really glad that I did! It certainly wasn't easy (so I know I wouldn't have managed Week 3), but it was easier than when I started in September. This was good for my self confidence (I find the challenge at least 75% mental) and |I was able to rattle off Week 1 even stretching the final runs a little further after Laura said I could stop. This morning I went out and nailed W2 R1 again pushing myself to go a little longer on the final run. You'd soon find out where you are if you started in the middle & kept dropping back a week until you could manage it, but I'd find that going backwards stuff a demotivating waste of time. See how you go and let us know how you get on.
