Tight hips...ouch...but finished wk 1 ๐Ÿ˜

So, I've finished the first week. I have to say I am really enjoying it so far. The only slight downer is the achy hips. They felt so tight after my run this evening. Lots of stretches later and they are feeling sore but a little looser. Good old google assures me it will get better as my gluts/bum gets stronger. So here's to a stronger backside ๐Ÿคฃ Any tips gratefully received x

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow.

Thank you. I will give that a read.

I had hip problems when I started. It turned out to be caused by my posture. Make sure you run up tall. Don't sink into your hips. Keep your bum tucked under and your hips rolled forward. In the meantime, stretches, swimming and yoga all help. I found the child's pose particularly helpful.

Good luck

Might be worth trying hip hikes, helped my when my hips were sore a few years ago. Added them to my post run stretch routine at the time.
