Need advice please. Picked up an right ankle twinge 5 mins from the end of my 30 min run. Stubbornly kept running (shouldn’t have) and now have missed run 2 through injury. What are people’s experiences of being out of the game for a week or two? Did you pick up from where you left off? Hoping I’ll only miss a week. Thanks in advance!

From what others have posted on here I understand that 1-2 weeks out shouldn’t affect your fitness. If, after the week, you’re not sure then you could have a ‘practice’ run to assess if all is well again.

Thanks. That’s good news! I’ll keep my fingers crossed. So frustrating to almost get to the finishing post and then have to take a step back.

Yep, I'd agree with Wenderwoo.

Definitely a week wont make any difference. If it's two, well, if it was me, I'd probably still give it a shot. If it turns into a practice run, so be it.

But, you will very quickly get back to where you were, so I dont think you would need to consider going back too far in the plan.

Fingers crossed

Thanks! Hoping for no more than a week. Can at least now walk normally!

Missing a couple of weeks isn’t an issue... sometimes a couple of weeks off can be a good thing, I know a few people who’s best times have been set just after a holiday.

Ankles can be slow to heal as the blood flow isn’t great and it’s a complicated joint. Don’t rush back worrying about slipping back a little, if the pain persists then get it checked out by a physio.

Thanks! I’m impatient to get going again because I love the program but will have to be patient.
