How far roughly are you expected to have run/walk on the first run
How many km on first run: How far roughly are... - Couch to 5K
How many km on first run
Hello!
You're not expected to run/walk a specific distance, you go at your own pace and just stick to the times. I did almost 2km on that first day (excluding the 2x5 minutes warm up and cooldown bits).
Don’t worry about how far you run, just complete the time periods, going at a pace that allows you to do them. Whilst the programme is called C25K, many people won’t be running 5k in 30 minutes at the end of it. It’s about getting you to run whatever you can. Good luck.
I am on W9R2 and run 4.5K in 30mn now. It s not about distance it s more about developing your stamina
To be honest, I think most on here would say, it doesn’t matter about distance. Don’t worry about it. Try to follow the timings and all the best going forward 👍
It's only called 'couch to 5k' because 'couch to 30 minutes continuous running' isn't quite so catchy. Concentrate on timing, speed/distance will come later.
Good luck 👍
Thanks. If I can run for 30 mins that would be amazing. At the moment its about two and a half minutes which in part is why I started this
Don't look too far ahead, just trust the programme and take each run as it comes. You will do it!
You aren't... you just run and enjoy

Take it slow and steady, relax and you will be amazed where this fantastic programme will take you...

In answer to your question, do you want a reply from a seventy year old woman with arthritis or a twenty year old male returning to running............they are all on this forum.
The only person to compare yourself to is your former self.
Enjoy your journey.
In my first few runs I went just over 3km in total.including the two 5 minute walks. I don't use a circuit, I just set off from my house and when I hear the half way bell, turn around and head back. What I have found is that at the moment, now I'm running for longer periods I'm not actually travelling so far! This is because I'm forcing myself to run more slowly so I can do it for the longer time. Good luck with your progress and do.let us know how you get on.
My route including my warm up/down walks are just over 2miles from my front door. I’m hoping to finish week 2 this morning.
