You should be very proud and happy well done on weight and graduation. I’d love to see the look on your gp’s face next time you jog in πŸ˜‰

sarahbee_uk profile image
sarahbee_ukGraduate in reply to Grannyhugs

Haha, yes! I didn't start running until I had lost a bit of weight but I did check with another GP that it was OK πŸ™‚ my knees still swell up if I overdo it but if I take some extra rest days it all settles down.

Thanks, that's really helpful. I am not sure what I will do next I have achieved my weightloss goal and also I started c25k on a bit of a whim so I am quite surprised I made it to the end and how much I have enjoyed it. I am nowhere near reaching 5k in my 30 min runs so I vaguely thought I would keep running for 30 minutes and hopefully get faster? Or maybe I can start to increase my running time at some point? I would like to run the whole 5k parkrun course eventually even if it takes longer than 30 minutes. Time to start some new year's resolutions πŸ™‚

Congratulations, sarahbee. A fabulous achievement, especially so at this time of year - cold, wet, etc. Whatever you do next there is always help and support on this forum. I still mainly do 30min runs (graduated 6months ago), but go for a longer run every now and again. I find the longer run actually helps me to run faster on the shorter 30 min runs. Best to find what works for you. Happy 2020!

sarahbee_uk profile image
sarahbee_ukGraduate in reply to Cupoftea5k

Thank you πŸ™‚ whatever I do I am going to take it slow and steady. It has worked well so far.

Wow wow wow. Many congratulations.

My first 5k took 52 mins. That was 3 months after graduation. 2 months after that i did 5k in 38. I had to slow down after that one to avoid injury. Now I’m around 45 mins. My 2020 aim is to do 5k in 30.

Take it slow and enjoy your consolidation runs. Vary speeds and distances. Each run can be very different.

Well done Sarahbee! That is fantastic! Keep on going, my suggestion is to have a think about your next goal while you consolidate, as we always feel better when we achieve targets for ourselves! There is some great advice on the forum. But for now...

Thank you! Yes, it's definitely satisfying. I am not sure why but I have never enjoyed going to the gym. The running seems to have boosted my weightloss, it's been a good combination for me. I don't think I would have thought of doing c25k without the inspiration from the WW community.

Wow well done. Now go enjoy 2020 a happier. slimmer, healthier, fitter you. You will be an inspiration to many πŸ˜„

Well done, you are amazing. I completed just before Christmas. I am impressed with the weight loss as well. You are an inspiration. I needed to loose my first stone in 3 months, but Xmas has blown that goal. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with consolidation.

sarahbee_uk profile image
sarahbee_ukGraduate in reply to Tippyrunn

Thanks😊 well done to you too! My weight loss is really down to Weightwatchers but the running has definitely helped boost that it. It took me about 8 months to reach my goal weight. I dread to think how much I have put on over Christmas but I know if I stick with what I have been doing I can get it off again so no regrets!

Tippyrunn profile image

You should give park run a go. I did my first in 4 years, as the final run. It was tough but I had loads of support. They are really friendly bunch. I'm going to aim for 1 a month if I can with a view to reducing my time.

sarahbee_uk profile image
sarahbee_ukGraduate in reply to Tippyrunn

I did my first parkrun last week πŸ™‚ I ran for 30 minutes and then walked the rest. It was great fun, will definitely go again. Very friendly. Sounds good, I was thinking I would do one a week but maybe that's too much. I may have to do every other week due to husband's work pattern anyway.
