Couchto5k is a godsend

So iv had a strange two years in regards to my health and fitness. I became quite obese and was diagnoses with type two diabetes at age 29, this kicked me into gear and I lost a lot of weight, and fell pregnant(.my weight had previously hindered this) so my weight continued to fall through my pregnancy leaving me two stone lighter when my daughter was born than I had been pre pregnancy. However I had a c section and other health concerns for months after her birth and a stone crept back on. I then went back to work (a desk job, I barely walk further than the kettle for a brew) and another stone has crept back on since March. We have been trying for another baby for about 8 months with no success. I knew this is weight related. So something snapped. I knew I had to sort my self out, and I saw a friend on Instagram posting there week one progression and I thought, why not, let's try the couch to 5k. And by week one run 3 I was hooked, obsessed actually I just fell in love with the idea of progression, I love seeing how much further I can push myself with every run.. By week 3 I joined the gym and now swim after every run too.. I am hooked on the feeling of my developing fitness. I tell anyone who will listen how amazing this program is! I have just completed week 6, set to start week 7 tomorrow morning. I haven't lost any weight yet, but after research I have discovered at this stage it is normal as I am loosing inches. By week four I had lost two inches from my waist, one inch from my chest three inches from my stomach and two inches from my thighs.. I can physically see that I have firmed up and I can feel it in my clothes so I'm not putting too much thought into what the scales say.

Sorry for the long post.. I'm just so excited to find people who understand why I am so excited about this! ๐Ÿ˜‚My whole life I have struggled with excersise and have never really known how to do it. I have now found a love for running ๐Ÿƒ

Iโ€™m exactly the same, this morning I have lost 7 lbs and Iโ€™m in week 6. But Iโ€™m not really bothered about the numbers as I can see and feel all of the other benefits. Itโ€™s an amazing program, I wish I was able to communicate that better to friends and family ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you. I really am excited. But I think my friends and family and colleagues are a bit sick of hearing about it. I don't think everyone quite understands the sense of achievement someone can feel after running for 5, 8, 10 or 20 minutes straight when only weeks before running for 60 second Intervals was the hardest thing ever to endure. I was a real exercise phobe before starting and it's snowballed from my first run, and I couldn't be happier about it or more proud if myself. Its nice to speak with people who understand that x

The program is awesome. I would never be where I am now without this program. It give you a real structure and feeling of real achievement when you've finished each week.

Good luck with future weeks. I'm sure you'll smash it with your amazing attitude

I can totally relate to this, having had a pretty tough time over the past four months I decided I'd start Couch To 5K in September as Id always loved the idea of running and knew I would feel the benefits in my health & wellbeing and will be doing W9R2 on Sunday. Looking forward to doing park runs, running with friends or local running group but most of all wanting to & enjoying putting in my head shoes and getting out there on my own. I"m very fortunate to live beside some fantastic countryside but on the coast so really so feel like I have the best of both worlds so armed with some of my favourite tunes I'm looking forward to graduating and becoming a fully fledged runner :-)

Well done for getting started, that's the first and possibly biggest hurdle.

My partner is overweight and my progress has inspired her to start the program so it's great to hear that it's working for you, it should work for her too.

I'm a little overweight and would love to be a few pounds lighter, but even now, I'm on week eight and haven't lost any weight but feel so much fitter. All our bodies are different in that way, throw the scales out, they don't matter ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I can't shout it loud enough from the roof tops to anyone who is overweight.. This program is what you need!! I hope your partner can settle into and enjoy the program, however as with anything related to losing weight, you need to be in the right mind frame at that time or it won't work. When I started it was the right time for me. I still haven't lost weight but I have definitely lost inches and I can see my figure and shape changing... A factor of my weight not changing is also I haven't really changed my diet along with starting the program, which is a wrong move, so as soon as life settles back to normal after xmas my diet will be overhauled completely. I have become addicted to wanting to be healthier!

I finished week 7 today and still can't believe I am able to run for 25 minutes straight.

That's brilliant, I also can't believe I can run for 25 minutes (28 now ๐Ÿ˜‰)

I've always said dieting doesn't work, you really do have to change your complete outlook to a healthy lifestyle, the right food and exercise for you.

Sounds like you have that now and that's fantastic, you will be chasing all your kids around until you've worn them out ๐Ÿ‘
