Holidays interefering with Couchto5k

I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks in less than a fortnight and doubt I'll get any of my runs in while away. I've just completed W7R1 this morning and would like to get as far as finishing W8 if possible before the holidays. Will a fortnight's break from the programme make a massive difference to attempting W9 on my return or will I need to build up again with run/intervals ?

Take your running stuff and do it. I'm serious I ran in menorca. Get up early and go out before breakfast.

It'll put you on a high for the day.

Enjoy your holiday xx

Think I will take running stuff with me - hopefully get some route worked out while away.

Thanks for encouragement. x

I took my running gear with me on hoilday aswell. I ran early in the morning's along the beach too. I went for 7 days to croatia and manged two runs in that week. Also don't forget your on hoilday aswell. I've repeated a few runs over the course of the app. If I didn't feel it went right or I knew I could be a bit more confident. So you could either go back and repeat a few runs. So best of luck with your journey. C25k

I will take running stuff with me. It's more difficult when you're with others just getting out and doing your own thing . Thanks for your advice and encouragement.

Can you run on holiday? If it's possible do it 😊

I took my kit on mine few months ago and woke early so took my run (only away few days) but my trainers and running clothes were first in the case 😁

I'm going to try and get a couple of runs in if possible. When you're away with other folks it's that bit more difficult getting time to do your own thing. Not sure how much it will be appreciated if I'm up and about early !! Thanks for replying.

Pack the running gear, and get up early. It’s great as you feel smug and can justify the beers, cocktails and overindulgence on food! You’ll be surprised how much you’ll miss it! 🏃🏻‍♀️

All your replies have helped me make my decision ! I really don't want to miss the routine I've got into with Couchto5k so yes I'm going to take running stuff with me. I'm not going to be popular with others getting up early (love going out at 6am) but they'll get over it !!

Hi

I’d definitely suggest taking your kit and running on holiday. I did a couple of runs including graduation run in France - it was great! Means you can pick a different route and possibly time of day to run as well. I think you’ll miss the buzz if you don’t.

I'm now going to take running gear with me . Hopefully I won't be too unpopular with others if I get up nice and early and fit in a couple of runs. I don't want to break my routine now if I can help it.

Well done you getting your graduation run in France

In direct answer to your question: no it wont. In fact the two week break will probably have a positive effect on you and your running. It is good for all of us to factor in a running break every once in a while.

However, as others have said: take your running shoes; but don't be too hard on yourself if you don't get out whilst you are on your break. And even if you do, don't feel you need to follow the programme religiously either - just get out and run what you feel like doing whilst you are away. It is a holiday after-all.

Thanks for your advice Whatsapp. I did wonder what effect a two week break would have - negative or positive. Interesting it would be positive. I don't want to lose my momentum now if I can help it but at the same time have to consider other folks I'm there with. I'll take running kit with me and hopefully get a couple of runs in.

I agree with Whatsapp on both counts.

All my best runs have been in new territory while on holiday, but if you do have a break, be careful about pacing when you start back.......... it is too easy to rush at it after a break.

Have a great holiday.
