Well, week 6; what a week! Did the first run, which I found fairly hard, but persevered. I felt a huge sense of accomplishment as I was walking back home along a track in the park after I had finished run 2. It was Thursday evening and the park was even darker than normal as the roadworks opposite meant the streetlights were off. So, out of nowhere I was thwacked to the ground by someone who ran past me very quickly and clipped my left shoulder. I face planted onto some hard concrete and ended up in A&E with a cut cheek, a potential broken nose and a CT scan for the rest of my bruised and battered face. Ouch!
Luckily I have only fractured my little finger. But what WAS I thinking, out alone in the dark wearing nothing but black? I have now gone and bought a head torch and a hi vis jacket, to see and be seen. A big reality check about my own stupidity.
But this whole sorry episode ends on a massive high. I learnt an important lesson and completed the 25 minute week 6 run today in broad daylight with a smile on my face, which is amazing as I was dreading it due to the mishap after run 2. I have got my confidence back, but at a cost; the physical and emotional one, not the financial one, I mean! Can’t wait for my next run on Tuesday!
