E. Finally, with C25k a distant memory, seeing the day when you go under 30 minutes
Today I did all of these things in a single parkrun. 29’50” at Drumpellier on my 50th parkrun and a run report to write for them tomorrow. Very happy runny bunny. Runners’ high lasted most of the day.

I did. I’m originally from Coatbridge and still have family there. Was staying over after a celebration last night. My one previous time there I took over 36 minutes but I had been celebrating my own 60th the night before! Also it was less crowded this time which made it easier to get going.
Congratulations Arthur on achieving a PB of 29.50 and running your 50th parkrun at Drumpelliier this morning.
I was their as well, my time was 30.56, one second slower than my PB of 30.55, if my maths are correct I was 66 seconds behind you.
During my run a visually impaired runner with another runner attached to him passed me, at that moment I quickend up my pace a little and followed them about two seconds behind until the fnnish,
I could have sprinted past them with 20 metres to go but I think that would have been unfair, if I had I would have got a PB because looking at the results they achieved my PB of 30.55, I probably would have got 30.54, which would be a PB for me, nevertheless both you and I are very happy about our run at Drumpelliier this morning, the temperature was - 5C/23F brrr. 😊 🏃🏾
Why would it be unfair? I was on course to beat my PB of 30’44” anyway but I glanced at my watch and saw 29’30” then looked up and realised I was nearer the finish than I thought and might get the elusive 30 if I went flat out. That last 20 seconds were at under 4 mins per km ie below 20 minute pace and I passed several people who had been just ahead most of the way round but I didn’t think it was unfair - it’s not a race, we each only compete with ourselves and my passing them did not make their times any slower. If passing would have impeded the VI runner and slowed him down then that’s different but otherwise passing him is not unfair.
Thank you for your reply Arthur, I suppose I am still fairly new to running and don't completely keep to the rules, but I am learning, once again congratulations to you on your 50th parkrun and PB this morning. 😊 🏃🏾👍
There’s no rule in that sense: you can slow down and let someone finish ahead of you if you want to. It would be thought suspicious in a race but parkrun is not a race so it’s fine. I’m just saying it’s not unfair to run fast if you want to as long as you don’t impede anyone else. I bet the VI runner would have speeded up same as I did if he thought a PB was on for him.
I thought you might be there when they announced a visitor from Dunfermline even though you live in Cumbernauld- I told them I live in Arbroath but they announced Montrose because that’s my home parkrun.
Well done for achieving all those milestones in one day Arthur. The 50 T-shirt arrives really quickly and I love being able to wear one. The apricot tourist shirt has been worn more regularly.
Brilliant reaching that sub 30 - it’s still on my wish list but still trying to reach sub 31.
Thanks. To be fair volunteering and tourism are both things I do regularly although not usually at the same time - Saturday was my first ‘voluntourism’. I do like volunteer roles that let me run (or even walk) as well.
