I'm new here, I've been reading the posts and now I have a question. I wanted to lose weight and get fitter, so I spent eight weeks sensibly building up to Sofa to 50k, the cycling equivalent of Couch to 5k. I completed the training and the ride and my BMI is now at the upper end of normal. Is 1600 calories per day appropriate for me, given that I am a 69-year old male? Secondly, how can I build on my progress so far?

Cycling instead of running and not sure of calorie intake
Welcome aboard. This is not a diet forum. We cannot help with calorie intake, you should speak with a dietitian on that.
We're here to help and support you on your C25K journey if you'd like to give that a go?
If not check out the Strength and Flex forum to see what other exercises you could do to help you stay fit and strong
Doesn’t sound enough for an active male If you look at what’s recommended for a guy your age, which is 2600. I just checked 😃

I seem to eat more now than I did when I was overweight, but I eat the right foods instead of the wrong ones ☺️
Think this will be a better forum for you . Good luck
Welcome to the forum.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes basic advice on diet but not on specific calorie intake.
Enjoy your journey.
I think it's important to know that whatever you read about calorie intake on the internet must be taken with a grain of salt. It depends on your height, weight, age, gender and level of physical activity.
I don't think anyone can advise you of what your calorie and nutritional needs should be on this forum. It's something you asked a registered dietician and discuss with a GP.
