I have been doing the C25k now since 29/9, and I have found parts of it hard going. Between shin splints and calf cramps I wondered if I would ever get the hang of this running thing.
Today I set out to do week 6 Run 2, a 10 minute run, 3 minutes walk, 10 minutes run. Normally I enjoy the sense of satisfaction in completing a run but find the actual run to be hard work. Today, I put on some music and just plodded along. I am not by any means fast but just found my pace and went with it. I found by half way through the second run I was smiling, singing along (badly) to the music and happy. Despite the rain.
Just hoping this keeps up for the remaining runs. I am never going to set any speed records but maybe my wife’s suggestion of a 10k next May is a possibility.
Happy running to you all.

10k next May... that’s way more than a possibility now! Huge breakthrough there in enjoying it on the run... I didn’t really get that until later, but it’s an amazing feeling when it comes... bottle it up and let some out whenever a run is tough. Smiling has been proven to help the run too... so keep doing that! I have Guns n Roses “November Rain” just ready for my next wet run, and I’ll sing it so badly!
Good morning UnfitNoMore, I did tell you yesterday that I would be running my 4th 10K today Wednesday as I haven't ran a 10K since 25th September, well I have just come back from running without any walking my 4th 10K, not a PB but better than my first 10K, my time today according to Mapmyrun was 72.13, my first 10K time was 73.03, PB of 25/9 remains at 69.23, a good run, not too concerned that it wasn't a PB, the main thing is to enjoy the run and not get too knackered trying to get faster each run.
I forgot about speed work a lot on my half marathon plan due to a small injury and illness once I’d committed to the race. Then a couple of weeks ago I went on a 10 miler and beat my PBs over 1km, 1 mile and 5k during it, and demolished my 10k one! Speedwork will have no doubt made me a bit quicker, but I proved to myself that it comes from endurance work too.
Congratulations you've reached that happy point. Hold onto that feeling to help you through the longer runs, think of them just as longer times to feel happy and remember the happier you are the longer it lasts through the day. I like your forward thinking to 10k in may. I've just signed up for 10k may and only started running in August. Ignore your pace, that will come later. Happy running
