Rain, rain - go away !

I was looking forward to Week 6, Run 2 tonight. Got away from work later than planned and arrived at home in the dark and in pouring rain, so I gave it a miss - but I'm now feeling grouchy because I missed my run. Think I'll be doing more on the treadmill at the gym than I will be outside if this continues. Has anybody else been put off by the weather?

Kinda... I hate running in the summer heat... rain I love though (not so much in February)

That rain can keep us nice and cool and actually make the run easier... the warmup can be miserable of course, but once you’re wet you’re wet, and you’ll soon dry off!

Keep checking the weather app and the nowcast (or window as some people call it) to find a window between showers to at least get started in.

Fingers crossed for your kind of weather tomorrow.

So sorry you missed your run! It can be really frustrating when you planned it and then you missed it. I hope the weather improves and you get few lovely autumn runs! :)

I don't have access to a treadmill so I have ended up running in the rain few times. It wasn't that bad thanks to a waterproof jacket but, because I wear glasses, I couldn't see where I was running :O

I've never ran in the dark but I don't mind the rain , once you're wet you're wet right. Hope you get some better weather if not the treadmill sounds great 😊

For me, part of the joy of running is experiencing all sorts of weather. Like UNM I dislike the heat and I don't run on ice. But otherwise-bring it on! I have run on a treadmill on holiday, and hated every moment of it...

I don't mind running or getting wet when when it's a light shower but yesterday morning we had torrential rain which also make the leaves on the pavements so slippy. Like you I cancelled my run and then was all out of sorts for the rest of the day . I try to reason with myself there's another day coming.......and it was this morning when I ran 6k.

Thanks for your comments everyone. The rain was pretty torrential yesterday but today it was good and I got my run in - and feel much happier for it.

I'm another spectacle wearer, which doesn't help, but it is the indifferent lighting and uneven paving that I am really wary of. Most of the leaves and a few branches are down too, so I chose a different route tonight where I knew there were fewer trees and I felt more sure of my footing.

Not what you're looking for?
