So here I was worrying about whether I could cope with the jump from 90 second runs to 3 minute runs....when along came the good old British weather to give me more than I bargained for! Today it was time for W3R1 and if you've read my previous posts you'll know I was feeling anxious about being able to complete the longer run sections, well in fact I needn't have worried.
I set out in the worst of the rain this morning and was determined to complete today's challenge. I'm not exaggerating when I say the rain was torrential, but nothing was going to stop me! After my warm up walk I set off on the run section happily following Jo's instructions, but then there was no Jo, I reached the point in my circuit of the park when her voice would usually kick in so I looked at my phone and realised it had been paused. Not sure what to do I unpaused it and carried on; but then the phone seemed to jump ahead. I missed the 90 second run. It took me straight into the 3 minutes run. I really don't know how much time I was running for because my phone kept freezing. All I do know is that on the second of my three minute runs, I had completed double the distance I would normally cover in 90 seconds but when I checked my phone it was paused on 2 minutes 50 seconds, so I unpaused and carried on, so was running for approximately 6 minutes in total I think. Hard to know for sure. So it wasn't a very satisfactory outing in terms of completing the reps mandated in week 3 that I should have done, but great for my self confidence- in that I proved to myself I could run continuously for much longer than I'd given myself credit for
In terms of C25K though, I think I'll have to write off this morning's run and will need to do a further three runs to complete Week 3.

There seems to be a few problems with the app . I didn't have any don't know what's happening with it. But you still ran so well done you 😊😊
Well done on your run! 🏃♀️ Brilliant work!
I’m on the same week as you; I did run 1 last night. Up until now I’ve been using the app, but last night I listened to the podcast instead and I have to say that it was much more informative and the music helped me keep my pace slow too! I think I’ll keep using the podcast for the time being, as I’ll be able to tell if it stops or pauses, whereas when I was using the app & Spotify I couldn’t tell because the music kept going but I hadn’t heard from sarah in a while 🤦🏼♀️
I had problems with the app afew times. Annoying isn’t it! How soaked were you at the end? Did the rain help do you think? Well done on running for 3 mins (or more!). I remember it being a tough one.
Yes, the app playing up was pretty annoying, I did swear when I realised it had paused 10 seconds into a 3 minute run!
I think the heavy rain worked in my favour, it distracted me so it made the run sections pass much more quickly and I covered more distance as a result.
I was completely soaked at the end. I had to strip off in the hallway to avoid making puddles throughout the house!
I've not yet had a soaking experience... just got caught in a thunderstorm with big drops... but DO plan to go out in rain one day, just to tick it off my list! (thought my whole week 9 would be wet runs, but I was lucky!)
Oh my, well done for running in this dreadful rain we've had today .... and for persevering when you had a malfunctioning app. I take my hat off to you 👏. I've not had any issues with the app once it's on .... but I've had problems getting the 'cheerleader' of my choice .... had to mess around selecting another one, then changing it back to Laura my preferred one 🤔. Hoping you'll get dry for your next run and better app success next run 🏃♀️🏃♂️
Thank you. The app behaved itself for my run this morning, which was a relief, but I actually found it a little harder without the rain to distract me!
