Hey Wolfy, I’m really sorry your feeling lonely. It’s difficult to know what to say as I don’t know you or your circumstances. Is it possible to call a friend or family member and ask them to come and see you? Or you could at least talk to them on the phone. Or maybe you have a neighbour that you could go and see. It’s important to talk, and if there’s nobody you know that is immediately available you could call the Samaritans on 116 123 - it’s a free phone number and you don’t need credit on your phone to call them. They will chat to you and maybe be able to offer some advice on other stuff. Give them a ring 🙂

Hello Wolfy58, you sound a bit fed up at the moment. The last time you posted you were on wk5 are you still doing c25k 😊😊

Sorry and sad you feeling lonely & trapped.

Are you still able to run Wolfy? Running is a great way to cope with hard feelings & assess the future! Are you able to move somewhere where it’s easier for you to work & to get public transport? Do you have any family you can talk to or a friend??

Let us know how you get on.

Are you still on the programme? Maybe time to get some extra support...first port of call your GP?

I'm so sorry you're feeling trapped and lonely. I start to isolate myself when I start to feel low but I do have family nearby, sometimes it's hard to get out of it.

The reason I started to do C25K was to physically get outside and as a way to cope with my major depressive disorder. To me, it's not just about running, it's about so much more. I hope you're able to get outside and continue on this C25K journey.

I visit my GP when I'm struggling with my mental health and have check ups to see how I'm doing.

Reach out to your family and friends, they may not realise you feel this way. And as Wenderwoo said, the Samaritans are there to help if you feel able to give them a call.

Take care.

Hooray for the online world eh? Because we're here and we're listening and we're interested.

And hooray for running because it needn't cost anything. (And for most of us involves getting outside and if your time during daylight isn't fully committed, that's some very useful Vitamin D to be had)

So you've got a couple of good tools there to use during this hard time. You also have our awe and admiration because many of us on this forum have yet to get to half marathons or 10ks and plenty never will and yet you have them in your history. If you can crack on with completing the programme, it is very likely to give you a very worthwhile boost and we have loads of strategies to offer for keeping the structure and momentum going after graduation.

But given you've been feeling so down and for a while, it does seem worthwhile checking in with a professional as well... no point rolling a bigger boulder up that hill than you have to.

I am sorry that you are feeling low. I agree that you should speak to a professional- there are some really good therapies for depression and most services offer help via the internet. Maybe too, try and get out for a bit of a run; taking control is a good place to start. Take care.

So so sorry to read about how you feel!

It is hard sometimes to stop yourself from being lonely.

However I think it sounds as if you need the help of professionals .

One suggestion ..why not just wrap up warm, go for a walk and feel the air on your face. Listen and see nature before your eyes. Perhaps you’ll bump into neighbours and have a chat.

There is always some little thing that will change how you might feel when you least expect it.

Take care Wolf58.🤗🤗🤗x

PS are you still running. If so how about joining some of us for a virtual morning run. I’m sure others on this forum would gladly participate.

Hi Wolfy I know what you mean about feeling trapped. As the prime ‘bacon bringer’ for our family I have sometimes felt trapped in jobs I hate, working with people I dislike and not able to find another job cos I am too miserable.

My job was very unexpectedly made redundant in the summer and I was devastated BUT the C25K has helped me get my life back on track. Deciding to do this and then just doing it has made lots of other things easier in my life. It has put me back in charge 😁

It’s not always been easy but 8 weeks in I have some new pleasures in my life - the feeling after a run, the joy of doing what I said I would do and last but not least the support from this group.

Hope you are able to persuade yourself out on a run soon.

Take care

That's a tough situation to be in. You are right to reach out. You already are aware of the issue, it's just how to plan moving forward.

My first thought is use the running. Are you still progressing? If you are, 5 or so miles is very doable for a run commute...

How far is it to the next town/ busier area?

Do try reaching out to your GP or in many cases you can self refer for support groups now.

There's always options though 👍🏻

Great, so pleased to hear you're still getting out there.

You certainly will, although I very much understand and this can be the hardest time of year without outside support so don't feel reticent in reaching out 👍🏻

in reply to Wolfy58

I'm pleased to know you're still running, it can be difficult. I find this time of year the hardest in terms of mental health. Please know, that if you're struggling people on here will try their best to offer help and advice where they can. Obviously, we're not experts but do keep posting.

Take care.

Hey Wolfy, Glad you’re ok and still running - it’s a help of sorts, and at the very least you get outdoors. Also, please keep checking in and let us know how you’re getting on both with the running, and life in general. The people here are so very supportive 👍😀
