Lonely

Hi, where too start would be a good start! I’ve got a lot of stuff going on at the minute in my life and feel extremely lonely and tired of life! I wake up lately and think wow I’m in Groundhog Day! I’m constantly going back and forth between headache , migraine and sickness to the point that’s all I can taste🤮

I’ve literally got 2 friends apart from family and most of them love 100mes away, I was writing my Christmas cards out and realised if I died tomorrow there wouldn’t even be enough people to carry my coffin, how sad is that!!!

I NEED to change my life, I’m 41 and sad! Can anyone relate or am I just going completely insane?!

Welcome to the forum, but I suspect that you did not intend to post on a forum for new runners.

If you click the nine white dots, My Hub icon at the top of the page, you can browse other communities which may be more appropriate to your query.

However, learning to run with the C25k training plan has been a life saver for many, transforming both physical and mental health.

Runners are a friendly bunch and you will soon find like minded individuals, as well as the 120+ thousand members of this forum who will be happy to help you change your life.

If you are considering it, then this guide to the plan is essential reading. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I promise you, life will never be the same and we would love to cheer you on your way.

Hi Laura, and thankyou for posting in this forum. I think that it may have taken a lot of inner strength to post what you did, so thankyou again. We are a lovely, supportive community and you can read some of the other posts to get a flavour of what it is like here. Not sure if you are ready to start running to improve your fitness, but if you are, then it could also improve your outlook on life. And if you are not yet ready to run, you are welcome to stay, enjoy the conversations, posts and the 'feel of' the site. We are here to be your virtual (running) buddies and support you in your goals.

Hi laura - unfortunately it is too easy to sit at home by yourself. I have always found that the best way to make friends and do something with my life has been to volunteer for things. I learned this many years ago when I split from my first wife - I decided I would go to a local dance. When I got there they were asking around for some volunteers to help with the organisation of the dance - I put my hand up to collect tickets at the door :) It was the very best discovery I ever made in my life - when everybody was already inside the hall, I went in there to discover that everybody seemed to know me - of course they did, I collected their ticket!! :) Don't sit at home - get physical and start this C25K training - maybe walk every day for a month first - and get outside that house. :) Go volunteer to help out somewhere

Laura, I'm so sorry you're feeling so low. Welcome to the group, it's full of fantastic kind supportive people. If you posted here by mistake maybe it was meant to be.Your mood sounds very low. Running can help. Also, have you spoken to your GP? There is help available and I believe you can refer yourself. Here's a link: nhs.uk/service-search/find-...

Finally, I'm sure that a lot more people care about you than you realise. We rarely tell people just how important they are to their face,it doesn't mean we don't care :)

Hi Laurab19 can I suggest you speak to your GP as a start? They will hopefully have information on support you can access in your area.I can wholeheartedly agree with the comments on here that whether you intended to post of the C25K forum or it was by mistake, this programme really is a life changer. One of the best things I’ve found is that just being out in the fresh air does wonders for my mood and I’ve discovered so many amazing areas that were right on my doorstep. Also whether I’m puffing and panting as I try to run or hiking up a mountain people are always ready with a simple “hello “ or even a full on chat so why not give it go? It could just be the start of a whole new life.

Sending lots of love and positive thoughts your way x

Hi Laurab19, I felt just like you, totally overwhelmed by my life & alone. Having listened to people contacting Jo Wiley on Radio 2 about c25k decided it could be something I could do for me. I'm now on week 5 & loving it. I do it just for me, it clears my head, gives me some breathing space & I'm so much fitter too. Give it a go. Put your music on & have a lovely trot in the world. Good luck. X X

A joy of the C25K programme is to see just one area of progression in one's life. And achievement. Not running fast or far - but the achievement of getting out and having a bash at it. Hope you give it a go - you'll get support from this group.

Hi Laura - sorry you're feeling that way. Not sure whether you meant to post on this forum but I'll say 2 things:

1. Starting to run with the C25K program doesn't just train the body, it feeds the mind, gives goals and a sense of pride in achievement. Why not give it a go.

2. Volunteering is a great way to get out and meet people - I've moved to different cities and countries with work several times and have always found that a great way to start to build a social life in a place where I knew no one.

Good luck and best wishes.

Dear Laura,I noticed the other day that when I start the day with a walk outside in the sunshine, I feel better! I don't feel good starting out, but on the way back, the sunshine (or the walk?) make me feel more upbeat. I hope you try this, too, and let us know if that helps you feel better.

You have already made the first step by asking for help. Your GP is better placed than me. He/she may even recommend some form of physical exercise. C25K is for everyone. Other people have suggested volunteering. Your local Parkrun always needs volunteers. They often have a coffee afterwards so you can meet people. Running people, especially volunteers, or at least 99.9% of them, are really friendly. I wish you all the best if luck.
