And over two hours other tracks I've put together that help me Pace myself nicely over the last two years
John you're a bit organised. Sometimes the song finishes as jo whiley speaks and I think I'm the new fat boy slim 😎
I have a very low boredom threshold Over my first year of running I passed a lot of time in my car flipping through radio channels and writing down songs that I liked with a good best for running. Then I spent a few hours one night recording them back to back. At that point I was up to ten k so an hour and a half was plenty. When I went on to longer distances I did another hour and a half recording.
I especially like "knowing" how far along my regular running routes I would be when I am at a new venue It helps keep the "can I make it?" " How much further really?" anxiety to a minimum.
And sometimes knowing a truly favorite track is upcoming gets me past the "mini walls" on longer runs - I don't want to miss hearing it
All good fun
Great advice. I think I'll need to do this at some point. It's all a bit exciting at the moment. I have noticed that if I get a track wrong ie too slow it upsets my rhythm
I ditched a few tracks because of that - some songs that sounded great in my vehicle did not translate well to running "Money ,money money" Abba, "My Sharona" "Eye of the Tiger"just seemed too uneven and ultimately annoying. "Love Song" by The Cure on the other hand - not a great rythm for running but the memories associated with it always give me a boost
I think if one really does like a good balance between "Hearing" and "Listening" as they run, the selection becomes permanent, very personal and as important as the right pair of Running shoes
Come and get your Love . Redbone
Spirit of the West. Home for a Rest
Foo Fighters. All My Life
Farewell to the fairground - white lies
Eye of the tiger - survivor
Only for running mind.

My current favourites to run to are

Sister Sledge: Frankie
I'm putting these onto my list. I've got so many on my list from this post...so eclectic.
I use deezer Rock running playlist and last week Guns'n'Roses with 'It's so easy' was my hit - came up just when I was going up the hill and singing 'it's easy, so f***ing easy' really made me smile and kept going!!
Love your 3 - putting on my playlist right now!
Born slippy - Nuxx (great once it gets going), Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus and Mr Brightside - The Killers.
Chariots of fire film track
Paint it black, Rolling Sones
Come on Eileen, Dexy’s Midnight Runners (for obvious reasons)
Talk to me - Run the Jewels
Nancy Boy - Placebo
Shallow - Liines
Duality - Slipknot
I only have a short list at the moment so have been looking to add to it - I'll look at some of the suggestions posted.
My three retro favourites at the moment are:
Tiger Feet - Mud
I'm Still Standing - Elton John
Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival
and
We didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel (Oh, that's four!!)
I also have some Spanish tracks as I am learning Spanish and I can try to understand the lyrics to take my mind off the run!!
I’m really liking Chuck Berry, You never can tell 🙂
Fabulous. Will add them.
Punk! Post punk is good too. Anything with a fast beat and lots of anger or swearing helps me to power through: Ramones, Beastie Boys, Sex Pistols, Green Day, Foo Fighters, etc. Sounds crazy maybe but it works!
I have some spanish music I won't add here, and some already mentioned, but these are the ones that have made me smile at some point last week:
Imitation of Life - REM
Shut up and Dance - Walk the Moon
This is how a heart breaks - Rob Thomas
But I just realised I really need to update my list, I made a selection for my c25k, but now that I'm trying to get to 10k I need something much longer!!
I'd love to know some of your favourite Spanish music to add to my list.
3 of my favourite Spanish ones include:
Danza Kuduro - Don Omar
La Camisa Negra - Juanes
Suerte - Shakira
Hi
I don't know if they are going to be a similar style but:
Juanes - a Dios le pido
Mana - clavado en un bar
Melendi - mi rumbita pa tu pies
Rosana - pa ti no estoy
Marea - como quiere tu abuelita
Fito y Fitipaldis - la casa por el tejado
Piratas - promesas que no valen nada
Uprising... starelight ... muse
Rolling in the deep... adel
Mr and Mrs smith... stereophonics
Town called malice...jam
Foo Fighters; Times like these, Everlong, The Sign.
Never listened to foo fighters so...I'm widening horizons as I run towards them!

All three of Chris Stapleton albums, in no particular order.
