Delighted tonight to unexpectedly hit the 5K. I graduated 3 weeks ago, so have been consolidating with more 30 mins and gradual increases plus the C25K+ podcasts. So today I was aiming for 40 mins. I normally run in the morning (when itโs still dark ๐) but didnโt manage it this morning. So I decided to make the most of a sunny afternoon. The first 15 minutes were tough, but the last 10 were a breeze, and at 40 mins I was at 4.86 km and no way was I leaving it there. Got to 5K in 42 mins and had a little cry as I did my cool down/victory walk. At 43 years old I actually feel fitter than I have ever felt before in my life!

Congratulations Jenny on completing your first 5k, well done, just keep running 2 or 3 time a week and your time will get to sub 40 minutes before too long. ๐ ๐๐พ
Thatโs fantastic! Well done you! Iโm just about to go out for my second run of week 9, hoping Iโll manage it as my back is sore after a day of stacking logs yesterday. Iโve felt a bit frustrated lately about how slow I am, so itโs great to hear youโve managed a full 5K so soon after graduating. Helps me believe Iโll get there eventually...
This forum has been brilliant for managing my expectations, and I love reading other peopleโs stories. Congratulations again!
