Today I took a walk, not a run along the side of Loch Lomond, 16 months ago I ran one of the weeks of C25K along the same route.
Loch Lomond : Today I took a walk, not a run... - Couch to 5K
Loch Lomond
Iβve been there.. what a beautiful sight! π₯°
Stunning scenery Al. π
It is stunning scenery Cheeky, I think the mist on that hill makes it especially nice, if you look closely the boat in the distance is a tourist boat, when I got back to where that boats starts from there were only about a dozen people getting off but for the next trip up the loch there were around 50 people waiting to get on the boat.
Beautiful
Beautiful scenery AlMorr. Hope you enjoyed your walk down memory lane π
What a gorgeous route.
What a beautiful photo, AlMorr! We stopped off at Loch Lomond this summer, on our way to our holiday.
Thatβs a stunning photo, we had a short walk along there on the way to the isle of Lewis in 2013
Beautiful place... especially when the golfers arenβt there π€£
Be still my heart! So stunning!
What a great picture!
A beautiful place to run, walk or just sit and stare Al. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like the photo Dexy, just after I took it, I saw two runners running on the same route but in the opposite direction as I was walking, I would say that they were running at around 37 minutes 5K pace, it sort of made me want to run as well, but as I did not have my running shoes on I just kept walking.
Wow thatβs just spectacular!! What an amazing place! Lucky you! πβ€οΈ
They are indeed bonny bonny banks Al. That's a great picture. You must enjoy running around there when you get a chance.
Many years ago I walked the West Highland Way, from Glasgow to Fort William. Up the east side of Loch Lomond. Never saw it like that though - it rained every day!
My recollection is of it being a very long hard day, with lots of climbing up and down, not quite as bad as a few days later when my wife had to hang on to me to stop being blown away...
You lucky man, living near there Alan.
π
Sorry about the weather being so bad TOF when you were walking the West Highland Way, that photo was taken about 1 mile north of Balloch which is at the southern end of Loch Lomond, where the water of the loch flows into the River Leven and then eventually reaches the River Clyde at Dumbarton, the West Highland Way joins Loch Lomond at Balmaha which is about 5 miles further northeast from where the photograph was taken.
Iβv been there many times- ( & was there in August) - beautiful as always, a great place to walk or run. π
There is a cycle path all the way to Balloch at the southern end of Loch Lomond from Glasgow, I cycled many years ago almost all the way, I have also seen many runners on that route as well.
Iβll have to remember that, Mr E & I like our cycling.. π
For safety reasons I have now finished with cycling for this year as the clocks go back, however, I will continue with running and go longer walks, but unlike last year I won't be running with my walking boots on now that I have organised days for running and proper running shoes, I usually have a run on a Saturday and Wednesday morning, those will continue unless there is very deep snow or dangerous icy footpaths.
Funnily enough, I stumbled into C25K avoiding cycling in the dark! Sounds like your exercise plans are well organised! Enjoy! π
Exactly Elfe5, if you look back at some of my earlier posts I said that although I have not given up cycling I had cut it down from 4 long runs a week to a bike ride much shorter only once a week and wanted to fill that gap with something else, that something else was C25K hence me now running.
I love Loch Lomond β€οΈ Such a beautiful place! I was there a few years ago, near Dunoon x
Dunoon is a seaside town on the Clyde Estuary about 10 miles from Loch Lomond as the crow flies but a lot further by road as you have to go on a detour way up into the highlands and get back to Dunoon, most cars get to Dunoon by a ferry from Gourock on the opposite side of the Clyde, I have not been in Dunoon for a very long time, nice place I have heard when it's not raining.
Yes! We took the ferry. And went to the Isles of Oban, Isly, Bute and Arran and a few more. Just stunning β€οΈ
So glad that you enjoyed your tour of the west of Scotland.
It's just so beautiful and peaceful! I wish I could get up there now often! I know I live in a beautiful part of the country too, but the way of life is so different and the hospitality of the locals is second to none β€οΈ
That is absolutely stunning Al, gives me a yearning to go back to visit. It is such a beautiful place π
