I took a walk and a photograph of Loch and Ben Lomond this morning, this is where I ran run 3 of week 4 of C25K in May 2018, lovely morning for a walk up Loch Lomond side.

Indeed it is, very enjoyable walk this morning, tomorrow morning its No. 18 (not) parkrun. 😊 🏃🏾

Absolutely stunning AlMorr, I don't blame you for revisiting it. Just wonderful.

I hope you had a lovely walk and thank you for sharing the photo :-)

It is very nice to live so close to beautiful places like this, however, in the peak season in the summer many of the people who live locally complain that there are too many people visiting this area, this morning it was lovely with only a few dog walkers.

I was going to go there on Monday but the forecast is for rain, that is why I went to Loch Lomond today.

Beautiful photo Alan.. I would love to revisit Loch Lomond.. I was last there, on a sailing boat, on holiday, in my teens so around 50 years ago! Fabulous part of the world..😊

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to PeggySusi

It is but in mid summer it can be too busy with far too many speedboats on the loch.

Great pic, I was in Glasgow today for work and couldn't believe how nice the weather was for this time of year.

Very nice photograph AlMorr

Yes, I think part of LEJOG goes up part of Loch Lomond side, up part of the A82 which is on the west side of the loch, this photo is on the east side of Loch Lomond.

I have just passed 509 miles, approaching Beattock

AlMorr profile image

Welcome to Scotland Sue, you must be on the M74, not long now until you will be on the A82.

That’s a beautiful photo AlMorr and nicely composed to boot! What a perfect place for a walk and a trip down memory lane 🙂

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Jools2020

It does bring back a lot of memories to me, back in the severe winter of 1961 the loch was frozen with thick ice and I had a little walk on the thick ice, that is the only time that has happened.

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate in reply to AlMorr

Wow! You were fortunate to have done that!

Beautiful photograph. What a lovely place to run AlMorr. The scenery would be different every day. I completely agree about the over crowding in Summer - too many people....and sometimes midges! 🤣

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to 59er

Midges are a curse in the West of Scotland, the month of May is the best time to avoid them, perhaps also later in September or October.

59er profile image
59erGraduate in reply to AlMorr

We have a burn at the side of our house and trees at the back and to the other side so we know all about midges here!

I ran run 3 of week 4 of C25K around some of the adjacent park in May 2018, in October 2018 when I was visiting the same place there was a junior 1K cross country event taking place in that park, nothing today, this morning there were only a few dog walkers.

Really like the photograph. Have walked the mountains a few years ago now. Relatives in Edinburgh gives way to accessing the Highlands. How did you get the photo to download? I’m having problems with my iPhone as it won’t recognise my photos.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate

I am glad that you like that photograph I downloaded it on my Android Smartphone by going to C25K, then write, photo and post.

Sadly, I am on the Injury Couch since I broke my ankle in June. It's healing well though, and the physiotherapist thinks I'll be able to run again. Just not yet!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to grumpyoldgirl

Sorry about your injury, you may have to start again with week 1 of C25K as you have now been off running for about 4 months, I hope it won't be long before you can run again.

grumpyoldgirl profile image

Yes I think that would be wise, I'll be sure to post when I'm ready to start again 😊

Oh that's lovely. We visited Milaroccy Bay at the end of August in our motorhome. Stayed three nights, it rained all the time we were there! And it was busy. We plan to go back to Scotland next year 🤞 when it's not so busy 😊

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Blossom-

Sorry about the rain when you were on holiday, many places have had much more rain than usual this year, I am happy that you like the photograph.

AlMorr profile image

It won't be too long before you run with Lejog along the A82 by Loch Lomond, it's about 565 miles into Lejog from Land's End.

Ooh...I’ll look out for that AlMoor! 🤩 I haven’t had a chance to do any updates this week, so it will be nice to see where I am at after tomorrow’s run. ❤️

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Timotea

I am glad that you like it Timotea, I watched a video of a famous Scottish singer many years ago singing traditional Scottish Folk songs including the famous song Loch Lomond, the video was taken at that exact location by the side of the loch that I took that photograph.

Timotea profile image
TimoteaGraduate in reply to AlMorr

I am just about to start a water colour course and would love to have that scene as one of my paintings. Would it be possible to email me the original ?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Timotea

By all means have that scene in one of your paintings, I admit the original is a little clearer but my phone doesn't have the facility for me to email any photos.

Tinytears60 profile image

😍👌 stunning Al

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to Tinytears60

It is the best photo I have taken at that location for many years, I deleted a few other photos as this one is the best, I suppose it was all to do with the weather, clear visability, calm water and the Autumn colour's on the nearby trees.

If you look very carefully, just to the left of center of the photo there is a plane, I think its a seaplane which sometimes lands on the water, it was circling around and eventually landed but I had gone away by that time.

SueAppleRun profile image

Al that is stunning, I saw the photo earlier when work was going bad and took a sneaky look at my phone, the photo uplifted me so thank you,

I remember driving there on the way to visit sister who lives on one of the western isles

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to SueAppleRun

I am glad the photograph uplifted you when work was going bad, to get to the Western Isles you would drive up the A82 which is on the west side of the loch, that gets you to places like Fort William, Oban, Mallaig or Inverness.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate in reply to AlMorr

We have a hilarious story, we needed the ferry from Skye to Harris, but the sat nav in the dark after driving from the south coast of England took us to the Ferry port to Skye, we realised our mistake and drove back at dawn towards Fort William to then drive over the bridge to Skye, saw many red deer, arrived just in time and so tired when we got out of the car our legs nearly collapsed, ate a delicious breakfast on the ferry and recovered well

Scotland is totally beautiful

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply to SueAppleRun

When it's not raining, however, it's the rain that makes it beautiful, that was a good story about your visit to the Isle of Skye and Harris. 😊

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Yes the rain can be relentless but does contribute to it the beauty
