Bonny, bonny banks of Loch Lomond - earliest run ever, I must be hooked on this running lark!

This week I was working down at Loch Lomond for a few days (luckily travelled back before Storm Doris hit the area!). I took my running kit and was determined to run but the only time available was early morning so........alarm set for 6.40 and out running by 7am! I set off down the long driveway feeling a little chilly but soon warmed up and it felt so good to be out running somewhere different on such a beautiful morning. The route is mostly pavement, road and lanes - a gradual descent to the shore. I take a few photos (sorry, sideways!) and continue along the shore through some trees. I was having such a lovely run but unfortunately time was against me and I needed to get back, or my colleagues would be wondering where I was! So a gentle jog back uphill (not steep but gradual)......I got back to the centre, checked the distance - 8k, just brilliant. Feeling good! :)

Yes, lovely place (although lots of midges in summer months!). Always great to run in different places and so pleased with 8k. Planning a longer run tomorrow :)

Midges usually appear in May and throughout the summer. They can't fly in the wind so best to avoid sheltered places like forests, especially if camping! They like still water like little lochans, ponds or near the edge of a larger loch, especially where there are trees. Stay high, in exposed areas where there is a breeze. Pesky blighters - a bit like our gremlins!
