Wow! How thick is the ice - does it ever get thick enough to walk or skate on?
It's "probably" in the region of 3 to 6 inches thick, that is thick enough for people to walk or skate on, BUT no one walks or skates on that loch, unlike some frozen ponds in Glasgow, because there are dangerous currents underneath, there is a stream that flows into it at one end and a dam at the other end, many years ago it was just boggy land, after the dam was built it became the loch that is now, lovely to look at but very dangerous to swim or walk on in very cold weather.
