HI I'm David, 47 yes old, diabetic and overweight. Started healthy eating about 2 months ago with the aim of helping loss weight and reduce blood sugars. A friend said to try the couch to 5k, so here I am after doing run 1 of week 1. Actually looking forward to run 2 and proving everyone wrong.

Hi David, welcome to C25K and the forum, glad that you enjoyed your first run of week 1, yes, you prove all your friends wrong by continuing with the program, you can repeat any runs or weeks as much as you want, onwards and upwards for you to run two or week one.

You have taken the hardest step by starting this amazing programme. Take it slowly and in 9 weeks you could be running 30 minutes.

Some people who started this with me 18 months ago are now running half marathons! Others are happy to stay at short distances and run for the health benefits.

You will get lots of good advice on here so keep posting.

This C25K plan is amazing and along with portion controlled healthy eating it will change your life. I have got so much from running in the last 2.5 years, I’m 45 and wish I started years ago. But I started and I’m still going, and have lost 2.5 stone in weight and I’m happier and healthier now than I was in my late 20’s. Stick with it.

Hello David , great for getting started. Just go slow and slower again if needed. Also remember to drink lots of water per day about 2-3 litres and not just on run days.
