It was raining so heavily during my warm up walk it was almost comical. I run in hiking gear, and I was wearing a ripstop nylon shirt - no problem in rain - but poly cotton hiking trousers which I thought was a mistake as they were soaked through before I started running. Next time I'll wear nylon trousers as well. With heavy trousers I was expecting a rubbish time especially as I could see my heart rate was lower than usual - staying below 140 bpm.
But surprisingly (to me) my pace was faster than all week 7 runs which were done in better conditions. By half distance I felt very comfortable and looking at the data the further I ran the faster I ran.
Maybe I'm getting a little fitter, although it seems to me that managing these longer runs may be as much in the mind as down to the body.

Ditto week 8 run one was faster??? Today in the rain. Possibly as we wanted to get back home and out of the wet stuff. π I have a very light weight skiing spider waterproof I just put on over shorts and top and I wear a Nike storm fit waterproof golf cap. If my legs get wet I just put up with it for 30 odd mins. π§ βοΈ π¨ flash the wonder dog was drenched so a waterproof for him is my next purchase ππΌππΌ
π "Flash the wonder dog" - love it! πYou were faster as well? Seems like there's something in this C25K programme! πA waterproof cap - now there's a good idea. I was thinking in winter with freezing rain I will need to get one of those. β
Look for a Nike storm fit one they are super soft and fit tight without being to tight. I wear mine if I dingy sail in sunny places and even falling in does not make it come off so itβs safe for running.
