The penultimate run is done, but it really was hard work today, and I can't even blame it on the weather, it's beautiful out there today!
Virtually every run starts with me questioning why I'm doing it, but after the first 5minutes or so I start to get into a rhythm and actually enjoy it. I get around and, although my body is grateful for Laura's "that's it, slow down for a brisk 5minute walk to cool down", by brain is geared up to go again (needless to say my body wins that argument!)
But today was different. I just couldn't get into a rhythm. My legs hurt. By knees didn't feel quite right. My muscle's felt tight. I took it slower than usual and gently pushed myself around the route determined to run the full 30minutes, even though I'm sure at times walking would have been quicker.
Couple of theories...
1. I usually have a post-sport recovery protein drink after my run. I ran out last week, so maybe I'm noticing the benefits of it (or lack of them when I don't drink it)
2. Now I'm running longer/further/faster my body needs more than just 1day rest and so maybe I should increase my rest period to 2days
3. It was just one of those days. We all get the odd of day, where your body doesn't feel like playing. And today, for me, was just that.
Either way, fingers crossed I'm back in shape for Friday's graduation run!
26 down, 1 to go!
