Giving blood and running

Does anybody else give blood regularly? I've just given blood (on a rest day), but am now concerned that it might make running tomorrow harder. I just climbed a flight of stairs carrying shopping bags and found myself a little out of breath at the top and I'm sure it's because of all those red blood cells I gave away making oxygen a bit less available to my cells anyone have any thoughts? Maybe I'll take another rest day tomorrow just to be safe.

Definitely give an extra rest day or two. Well done for donating.

That might be sensible SB; I think the general advice is that high intensity exercise shouldn’t be undertaken for at least 24 hours after giving blood and they recommend drinking plenty of fluid for 48 hours (which, of course, we all do!). Well done for donating,

I stopped when the nurses found it harder and harder to find an appropriate vein - ouch!!

Thankfully I have "good veins" and have never had to be poked and prodded to get blood out! Just a small prick. I'm sure I'd hate it if they had to root around to find a vein.

Envisage having to scrape me off the ceiling while trying to answer the question “does that hurt”!!

An extra rest day will do you good . Well done for donating. I used to do it 3 times a year then I needed iron tablets so that put an end to it for a while but may go back and start again. Well done you 😊

well done for donating

They don't want my blood here in France as I was in the UK during the mad cow moment :( I have good A rh- blood too, but they don't want it

I would give it 2 days after donating

Definitely a rest day for you tomorrow & lots of fluid but what could be more worthwhile than helping someone critically ill through blood donation! Well done 👍 👩‍⚕️ 🏥
