Hi all, Iv just completed week 3 of C25K and I’m struggling with knee pain while running and feeling weak the day after. Is this normal for a new runner?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s had this.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on pacing, minimising impact, stretching after every run and hydration, amongst other topics, all of which may help.

If you need an extra rest day between runs, that is just fine.

Enjoy your journey.

I’m having knee trouble at too at the moment. Few knee niggles during the early weeks, but wearing a support helped. Had to stop the plan though after w7r3, had a great run, but knee pain kicked in when doing the cool down walk. Rested for a few days but knee still not happy. Took the advice from a fellow C25Ker and saw a physio, glad I did, as my knee cap wasn’t sitting in the right place! Physio worked wonders and knee is felling a lot better, although on Friday I thought try w2r1, this was too much too soon 🤦🏼‍♀️. So has set me back a few days, a lesson learnt! If in doubt get your knee checked. I’ve now come to the conclusion that I will probably have to go back to the beginning of C25K once my knee has fully recovered. Hope you feel better soon 👍🏻

Oh gosh I hope your knee recovers and you can get back running again.

I’m so new to this I just wasn’t sure what to do. People say it’s normal and to keep running but I’m worry I’ll do damage.

Thank you for your reply 😁

I now what you mean, take it easy and listen to your body too. That’s what great with this programme, you don’t have to rush, it can be done in your own time. Keep positive and🤞🏼you’ll be back running before you know it.
