Meant to run today but have bad cold. Bit annoying and presumably the right thing to do? Will carry on when feel better but have the constant niggle at the back of my mind I'll just pack it all in.

Oh dear.

I’ve been ill all weekend, I ran on Saturday morning and due to run today, week 5, but I can’t. So I’d love to know what I should do, I might be like this for another couple of days, I really don’t want to quit, I’ve loved getting here.

Don’t stress! The runs will wait. You only lose fitness after 2 weeks. So you just start off where you left off. You have the option of repeating any runs however many times you want. Get better soon. Keep up the fluids! You will soon be back out there😀🦋🌷

You’re so lovely, thank you for your support 💕. I didn’t know that about losing fitness only after two weeks, that’s made me feel a lot more reassured, thank you Annie x

Drink lots of fluid & chicken soup! You are resting, not packing it in!!

Banish those thoughts!!!!!

Read all the running links, plan new routes, make new playlists. If you don’t have a temp, go out for a walk Stay focussed. Hope you feel better soon 🌷🦋

Thank you. Sound advice. Feel less isolated in my poorly state.

Aww it sucks when you feel rough ☹️

The general advice is if it's above neck, you can still run, below and skip it for now. A gentle run can help but if it's in your lungs it's too much for your body.

Don't worry if you miss a few days, the runs will be there waiting for you, and you'll be itching to get back out there!

I’m having the same niggle and it’s only been a couple of days. I’ve been on strong antibiotics for a week now ( last 4 today!! 😁). They have made me so fatigued - at least I’ve caught up on my sleep. And they have also played havoc with my digestion. The last couple of days the only running I’ve been doing is up the stairs to the bathroom. And my hiatus hernia is playing up too so dreadful heartburn and reflux. Definitely not conducive to running!!

But I know I’ll be ok when I go back out there. I’ve come back from a 3 month break after ankle injury last year, so I know it can be done. So although my legs are saying “we want to run “ today I’m listening to the rest of me which is saying “ not likely mateys, I’m staying put”.

If my tummy stops doing somersaults later I might do some Pilates, with the cats obviously as they enjoy their Pilates sessions with me, but if not I will take it easy until I feel well enough to run.

You’ll be fine - don’t put pressure on yourself -just get well soon.
