Hey everyone just downloaded the app!! Never run before so feeling a little apprehensive. I am overweight and an ex smoker and I’m wondering if this is something il be able to do?? I have a prolapsed disc at c5/c6 which is causing spinal cord compression but my neurosurgeon has said running shouldn’t cause any problems, as I’m not allowed to used the gym or go swimming I thought this may be a good place to start. I will be needing surgery so want to be in the best shape possible for that, any advice would be greatly appreciated

If your doctor has gave you the go ahead to run then that's what to do. As everyone is told go slow and slower again. Drink 2-3 litres of water per day and not just on run days. C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊😊
This program is the best & will help you achieve your goal if you follow it carefully. Run very very slowly 🐌 as Buddy has said! This will build up fitness stamina & help prevent injury. Take a rest day between every run & drink lots of water every day! If you keep in touch on the forum we will support you through this! Welcome 👋

You can definitely do it. I graduated today and have a history of chronic pain from fibromyalgia and hypermobility. I have also had heart problems in the past. Good luck
