Hi guys. This morning is my week3 run2. Last night was the worst for leg cramps, back of thighs. Is this the norm?? I do suffer occasionally from lower leg cramps, but since ‘running’ it’s getting worse. I also have my painful Plantar Fasciitis back (after years). Thought this running malarkey was supposed to be fun 🥴 hahaha (I am enjoying it though and look forward to my ‘running’ days). X
Leg cramps: Hi guys. This morning is my week... - Couch to 5K
Leg cramps
For the plantar try calf stretches, they help me with mine, also look on amazon for fit nation support socks.
The cramping, sometimes a bit of salty water can help with it and regular stretching, even on non running days.
Good luck.
When running its really important to stretch after every run and are you drinking enough water 2-3 litres every day. The water will really help. Good luck 😊
Hi Buddy34. Yes, I’ve always drank lots of water during the day. Hot flushes and a busy work day makes me drink lots 😃 stretching too. It seems my rest days are the worst for the cramps. I’m also trying my best to cut out sugar (I love my chocolate), so perhaps diet change is also the reason? X
Epsom salts in a warm bath works miracles for cramps. I have one twice a week. Make sure it’s Epsom salts (magnesium) as there are all sorts out there. Then a gentle massage. The other thing that helps is a quick warm shower before you run.
Static warm ups & stretches after plus lots and lots of water & SLOW running!
I bathe my chickens in Epsom Salts (if they are egg bound) hahah 🤣 Thanks for advice, I’ll give it all ago. X
