So, after graduating on Thursday, I took part in my first Parkrun this morning! It was certainly a challenge (my local Parkrun is rather hilly!), and I did have to walk a fair bit of it, but I managed to complete it in a smidge over 43 minutes! Not the fastest time by any means, but I'm just so pleased with myself that I managed to get all the way through it!
First Parkrun!: So, after graduating on Thursday... - Couch to 5K
First Parkrun!
Congratulations on completing your first 5k Parkrun, well done, also well done on running that only two days after graduating from C25K, it took me 13 MONTHS after graduating until my first parkrun πo I suppose, better late than never π π
Thank you! I think I might need to do a few more consolidation runs now before I attempt another Parkrun - I'd certainly like to be able to try to run the whole course next time! π π
Congratulations. Keep with Parkrun, itβs for everyone thatβs why thereβs always tail walkers. Doesnβt matter how long you take but you will find you gradually get quicker.
Congratulations on taking part in your first parkrun. Well done you π
Well done, isnβt it the best. Having to work today, so missing it so much. Now just chip off those seconds. Lol
Well done and that's a very respectable time as well!
The park runs have hillsπ³, people who walk in front of you, oh legs donβt start walking! πΆββοΈ. So itβs very different. Iβm trying to improve, iβve Done 7, all different. Next Park Run for me is in London in two weeks. Bring it on.
Congratulations on laying down your first parkrun time. I approach any event/distance for the first time as a mission to finish, and in doing so setting a PB. Enjoy working on breaking that time.
Yes, my only aim today was to get over the finish line, whether it was running, walking, or crawling!
Maybe we should practice our crawling more, could come in useful one day π€£
Congratulations again, cheers π»
π€£ crawling certainly did feel like an option as I reached the final few yards (my local Parkrun finishes with a big long hill! It's inhumane!)
Thanks!
Thatβs fantastic, well done!! I think my first was about the same time. Donβt play it down, itβs amazing and chances are youβll be doing personal bests each next park runs you do!
Thank you! Well, let's hope so! I want to build up my endurance a little bit more before I tackle another Parkrun though - I've been getting a slight niggle with my left knee.. I suspect it's the dreaded IT band, so I'm going to be taking my next few runs a little cautiously as I don't want to end up on the injury couch!
On the nhs website there are knee exercises for runners, i recommend those and anything that strengthens your glutes like the clam. I have a week knee and have to do those. 5β a day will make a difference.
Congratulations! That's a respectable time AND it's a run not a race so finishing is the aim - and you did that. I'm in Sheffield and we have hills galore - I tell myself they will make me stronger.
Yes, it was a Sheffield Parkrun that I took part in.. so there were several inclines to tackle for the course I'll keep telling myself the same thing then!
Congratulations Mog7!!! You have really inspired me I'm on my 3rd week and loving this running malarkey x
Thank you! Oh I'm so pleased to hear that. It's a great programme and I really would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who would like to start running, even a total novice like me! Wishing you all the best for the rest of your C25K! Onwards and upwards! π
Congratulations on your first parkrun and a PBππ»ππ»ππ»You do realise it becomes addictive donβt you? You have been warned π
Congratulations. Another great achievement under your belt. πββοΈπββοΈπ
Well done ...Iβm aiming for Park run but not brave enough yet! X
Congratulations on your first parkrun in a respectable time. As the others have pointed out parkrun can be addictive. I run alternate Saturday's and volunteer the weeks I don't run. By volunteer week no 9 I was the Run Director, I now have 20 runs and 20 volunteers to my name and I love it. C25K and by extension parkrun are the best, they create a new freedom and many new friends. If you are getting joint niggles I have found Pilates helps.
ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈKeep on runningπ
That sounds a pretty amazing time to me! Well done and congratulations on graduating and moving headlong into Park run π² ππ
Great stuff, hilly will not only be a challenge but build you capability so good in the long run!
