Week 6 has broken me!! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

In need of some advice from the more experienced of you?

I came out of week 5 super enthusiastic and raring to go. Today, having just finished week 6, I feel completely different! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I've finished every run, so technically I have completed week 6. But all 3 runs were horrible! Spent most of today's thinking "why am I doing this?"

So my question is... move on to week 7 and put it behind me, or try week 6 again?

I should also add I'm going away tomorrow and have a week off. This could be a welcome rest and come back refreshed and ready to go again, or i could come back and struggle after a week of eating and drinking!

Anyway I've rambled on long enough, if you're still reading any advice welcome! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I would forget about it and enjoy your week off. I did a similar thing last week there was a big gap between W6R2 and R3 and I think that's why I managed to complete W6R3 because I was more refreshed.

Great job completing the runs.

Week 5 I loved, week 6 not so much... those intervals really irritated me. Hopefully youโ€™ll enjoy week 7 more.

The question โ€œwhy am I doing this?โ€ in my experience needs an answer... and Iโ€™m sure you have a few. I find goal setting gives me a few more. Iโ€™ve been graduated about a year and the other day I had a terrible mile 4 and 5 in an 8 mile run... the same question came up for me then as it did for you today... I barely got to mile 5 then 6,7 & 8 came easy again, maybe my gremlins ran out of ways to ask the question!

Enjoy your break. Youโ€™ll have rested mind and body when you return. I advise people to relax before they run, a holiday is the ultimate version of that ๐Ÿคฃ

It does happen, think about why you started c25k and where you have got to now, I bet that far outweighs those negative thoughts, you are a bit fitter.

If you've completed the runs of w6 then move on to w7 and carry on, you're doing so well, push on through the negative thoughts, the gremlins do pop up from time to time, they are little liars that have to be pushed out of the way, it's not always easy to do, I know, but as you keep ignoring them they do get less..

You could have a week off and come back refreshed, you won't lose any fitness in just a week off. A lot do, I did, it does no harm, probably beneficial.

Week 6 really does get to some people, have the break come back refreshed and Iโ€™m sure you will feel differently. For me the run that gave me the biggest elation was week 5 run 3, week six was such a come down after that, but six years on and I am still running and still enjoying it, it might be time to think about what you want to do with your running after graduation, run 30 runs, build up to 5km, if you are not there already, do a little work on pace or distance, having long term goals to work towards can help and sometimes as we get close to graduation after conquering the 20min run it helps to think further on to keep you motivated. Have a great holiday. Rfc x

Thank you :) Absolutely, W5 was such a sense of achievement and then this week was just horrible! As for longer terms goals, got an idea but maybe I should put a bit more thought into it now I've made it past my first of "be able to run for 10 mins without dying"!

I joined a club and so when I really donโ€™t feel like I can do it, I have to! I am still finding 5k difficult but very gradually it is getting a little less exhausting and less out of breath! You will have good and bad runs but every run is making you stronger and it will get easier ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Keep on going...you will be glad you persevered!

Parky no matter how you are feeling, the fact is well done mate!!! You did it !!! You have earn d this holiday. Go and enjoy it. You wonโ€™t lose any fitness so come back and give W7:1 a nice slow go... thatโ€™s the one to repeat if you struggle. However all previous weeks AND physical & mental struggles have prepared you so after a good rest you will crack it!!!! Enjoy๐ŸŽˆ
